For my card, I used a beautiful set, Fancy Edges for the lace border and Tag Lines for the sentiment. I embossed around the sentiment using Nestabilities Label 13 die and punched the border on the bottom of the card front. The black card piece was adhered on the inside of the card so that the border detail showed more :)

To finish the card, I attached the gingham ribbon bow and pearls for the lace border.

This card took only 10 minutes to make….I think writing about the card took longer for me, hee hee.

Just keep hopping along to the other FOF blog team members to leave your comment !! The more you leave your comment, the more chance to win ;) Good luck!

Stamps: Fancy Edges, Tag Lines (Flourishes)
Paper: aqua mist (PTI), basic black (SU)
Ink: Memento tuxedo black (Tsukineko)
Accessories: pearls, gingham ribbon
Tools: Label 13 Nestabilities, border punch

I simply stamped the image with red ink and used the sketch from Crazy 4 Challenges 38 (C4C38) – I tweaked a little... I used the sentiment stamp, “Best Wishes Vertical” To complete the card, I attached the ribbon and the ribbon rose. If you have the saddle stitched ribbons, just gather the one side of the stitches and roll the ribbon like you make a swirl. I dubbed the hot glue from here and there to keep the shape and added the pearl brad on the center of the flower.

Now, be sure to check out the creations by the Rock Stars below!!

Hello and happy Kitchen Sink Monday everyone~

I can’t believe it’s already the last day of May and we are starting June whether we like or not, lol. I decided to create today’s card with using another fruit set…Multi Step Peach.

The peach set is mini set ($8.50) with including Maria’s wonderful color recipe. I absolutely recommend to everyone who wants to try out Kitchen Sink’s step stamps :)

Peach_2-2_editedI stamped the image 3 times in the oval mat and designed with Basic Gray designer paper and coordinated cardstock. Then I embellished with scalloped edge ribbon, pearls & Tsumami Kanzashi flower (made my own) with die cut leaves.

These are the steps I did for each image (all inks are Memento inks):
(Peaches) I did the same steps from Maria’s recipe that linked above)…3rd – rhubarb stalk (1 x stamp off), 2nd – tangelo (1 x stamp off), 1st – dandelion (1 x stamp off), 1st – tangelo (1 x stamp off), 4th – rhubarb stalk (1 x stamp off), repeat 4th, 5th – sweet plum

(Leaves) 3rd – cottage ivy, 2nd – bamboo leaves, 1st – pear tart

FTTC68 – Handmade Flowers

Cherry_Blossoms_1-1_edited

Hello eveyone~

It is time for Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge(FTTC68) !  It is the end of the month so we have us a challenge host!  This month's challenge host is Velta Wesson.  Velta is challenging us to "make our own flowers"!  I know you have seen all of these wonderful dimensional homemade flowers being used everywhere.  Now is your chance to make your very own and sport them on your cards, too!   They look quite amazing, but they really are not that hard to do!  You can use any thing from paper to lace to create your flowers.  However, if you would like to see a few tutorials from SCS on paper roses, rolled flowers, or tissue flowers, just check out the links.  Also, Dawn Burnworth, has also done a tutorial on ribbon flowers here.   Whichever form of flower you choose to create, we would love to have you play along with us!  Remember to link your card with the Link system at the Flourishes blog for you chance to win a $10 store gift certificate.  Also, check out the blog for more ways to win!

My card was created with the beautiful set, Cherry Blossoms and the BG Kioshi designer papers. I cut the scalloped oval shape with big scallop oval Nestabilities from Spellbinders and stamped the sentiment and the small cherry blossoms image. Then it was sponged with the moss green ink and embellished with the brown pearls. I also machine stitched some of the mats.

Cherry_Blossoms_1-2_edited

About my handmade flower…. I hope you like it because I had so much fun to make it :) It’s called Tsumami Kanzashi Flower and Tsumami Kanzashi flowers are made for the traditional Japanese hair ornaments. There are a few Tsumami Kanzashi books in Japan but the shipping costs are just too expensive for me unfortunately :( Luckily I found the book Kanzashi in Bloom by Diane Gilleland with easier and more friendly version of Tsumami Kanzashi flowers so that every day crafters like me can enjoy making for modern projects.

The flower I made for the card was used the leftover cotton fabric and I cut five 2 1/2” x 2 1/2” squares, folded each square with simple origami folding (it’s a quite simple), assembled with sewing thread. After the flower was shaped the way I wanted, I attached the small circle cardstock and Prima leave on the back and the button on the front.

HERE is Kanzashi flower tutorial video by Diane. The folding she shows is not the same one I did for the card but it’s another beautiful flower for you to try.

Atelier Kanawa also shows how she makes Tsumami Kanzashi….Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3 if you are interested. She uses a traditional way and takes a lot of time to create her gorgeous projects…She also sells her beautiful projects in her Etsy store, Atelier Kanawa

There are also some Kanzashi tutorials out there if you like to dig in more….you can just google with “ Kanzashi Tutorials”.

This card is also submitted to Our Creative Corner Challenge (OCCC) – Loretta’s wonderful sketch!

Now, check out what the rest of FOF have created for the challenge!!

Stamps: Cherry Blossoms (Flourishes)

For my card, I stamped the SOTW stamp on the watercolor paper and water colored with re-inker and Twinkling H2Os chestnut brown to give more detail. After the paint was completely dried, I paper pieced the vase with the BG designer paper and paper toiled some of the flower & leave pieces. I also water colored the vase with Twinkling H2Os chestnut brown and the background with re-inker.

I couldn’t find the good place to attach the sentiment from NEW Quartet Complements (P8600) on the card front…so I stamped it inside instead :)

Aren’t these couple beautiful? Both of the couple and the sentiment is from Multi Step Wedding Couple set. I don’t want to scare you…but the image was made with SIX steps!! That’s right, I used 6 different stamps to create the image…I don’t deny it was easy but I just needed practice for a few times before creating the card, plus it’s so fun to see the image is becoming more detailed with each step :) I added the dash of colors (like bouquet, hair accessory and cheeks) with Prismacolor Pencils and added glitters.

SONY DSC

The inside of the card was used Multi Step Wedding Ring set. I created the money / gift card holder as shown on the photo.

These are the steps I did for each image:
(Couple) 3rd – SU sahara sand, 2nd – sahara sand (1 x stamp off), 1st – Memento desert sand (1 x stamp off), 4th – SU going gray, 5th – SU basic gray, 6th – Memento tuxedo black

Watercolor_Trio_1_edited

Hello eveyrone~

It’s been a wonderful weekend so far. My kiddos just finished their school year!!! Both of them did a excellent school year and I’m a super proud Mom :):) Now, we’ve enjoyed being relaxed, lol.  I just bought PSE 8 and have enjoyed playing some Actions, lol. Plus, I got a new craft book, “Kanzashi in Bloom” by Diane Gillerland…I love the flowers she shows in the book…I’m thinking making some of those for embellishments. I will let you know how they turn out when I experiment :)

OK, since my stamping MOJO’s been side-kicked, I decided to create a quick card. This card was used Color Throwdown challenge #93 (CTD93) and Fall to Layout 90 (FTL90) from Clean & Simple Stamping. (I just noticed the new FTL is up now…I guess I’m a little behind :p) I used Berry Sherbet color from PTI to alternate Melon Mambo.

I’m so glad I got this new stamp set from SU! It’s such a beautiful set and very versatile :)

Stamps: Watercolor Trio (SU)
Paper: classic white (Flourishes), baja breeze, pink pirouette (SU)
Ink:  baja breeze, pink pirouette (SU), berry sherbet (PTI)
Accessories: ribbon
Tools: piercing tool

MTSC74

Well, how about a card for a guy?? I hate to admit but I don’t make enough for guys who are in my life… but I know they love receiving a card or two from time to time like us :)

This week’s Our Creative Corner challenge (OCCC) was a perfect timing for me to create a masculine birthday card…I will definitely give this card to my special man for his next birthday!!

act 30

The card is also submitted to Mercy’s Tuesday Sketch challenge 74 (MTSC74) and Curtain Call Color Challenge (ACT30). The pale pink was included to the combo and it was fun to use it as a accent color for the masculine theme, lol! Why not, right?

The motorcycle image from SU! was colored with Copic markers. Not too much to mention as far as about the technique….I punched the 2 corners of the kraft mat with the same border punch I used for the pale pink piece. I killed two birds with one stone, lol.

Stamps: Motorcycle, Upsy Daisy (SU)
Paper: classic white (Flourishes), pink pirouette, pumpkin pie (SU), kraft (PTI), La Crème Mat Stacks (DCVW), Green at Heart DP (BG)

TSG55 & CC271

SONY DSC

Hello everyone~

I had so fun with creating this card above. It was created for There She Goes challenge 55 (TSG55) – Make an Impression….create a card using line art as your background. I also combined SCS Color Combination challenge 271 (CC271).

I used She’s A Lady set (the lady), Daily Grind set (the cafe image & sentiment) and Domestic Goddess set (the word bubble). I love some of TSG sets works mixing & matching very well and those are the ones I can play together over and over :):)
The lady image was colored with Copic markers. I used the designer paper from Basic Gray to close to the color combo and cut out the window with Label 1 Nestabitilies. The ribbon & button were simply attached to finish the card.

Here is the inside of the card.

The all images were colored with Copic markers. I used the sentiment from NEW Quartet Complements Series.

Now, check out the creations using the sketch by other Rock Stars!!

FTTC67 – Chipboard!!

SONY DSC

It is time for Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge(FTTC67)!  This week Betty Wright is our challenge host!  Betty is challenging us to use "chipboard”.  You can use some already decorated chipboard or find some "bare" chipboard and dress it up!  You can make tags, embellishments, or stamp your focal image directly to the stuff!  Whether you are painting it up, cutting it out, or using some already  pre-cut and decorated chipboard, we would love to see what you create using chipboard!

For the challenge, I used alphabet chipboard I purchased for a long time ago. The letter “r” is not stand for Rated “R”, just letting you know, lol!! It’s stand for Roses or Romance ;) Since the romance was my theme, I went for shabby chic vintage (again). The chipboard letter was covered with BG Nook & Pantry dp. Then I stamped the flourish images from Ornamental Elements with white pigment ink and distressed the edge with the same ink. I stamped the rose images from A Year in Flowers 2 on the Labels 11 mat using Memento rich cocoa. The lace dp from BG Nook & Pantry was used for the background and I stamped the image from Tea Rose Background  using Memento desert sand although it’s barely seen :p To complete the card, I embellished with tea roses, pearls, satin ribbon and scalloped ribbon.

I also decorated the inside with A Year in Flowers 2 and colored with Copic markers.

SONY DSC

Now, check out what the rest of FOF have created for the challenge!!

SONY DSC

I stamped Live, Laugh, Love for the background mat using pale blue ink (I masked the edge of the mat so that the image was placed inside of the embossed lines. The number “2010” was cut out with Cricut machine and the same image was stamped with black ink. The sentiment is the one from NEW Quartet Complements Series.

The next card was created with Dragonfly (102-F) and Daisy (2625-C). The daisies were colored with white gel pen and attached pearls. I used border punch on the top of the green mat. The dragonflies were colored with Copic markers and added Stickles on the wings. Live, Laugh, Love stamp was stamped with Brilliance peacock ink…it’s very pretty gradation in real life :) and the same pearls I used for daisies and the ribbons were used for the embellishments.

KS Monday – May 17th, 2010

SONY DSC

Hello and happy Monday again, everyone~

I’ve been MIA since last Wednesday…I hope you are doing OK. I needed to spend a time with my family and some errands for a while but I never stopped stamping ;)

It’s getting so close to the end of school year and I wanted to make some “Thank You” cards to my kids’ teacher. I’ve made only one that was shown above so far :p but I think I make a few more for their teachers.

SONY DSC

I made a pocket card and designed with 3 Step School Days and Plaid Plus!. The one of the border designs from Plaid plus! was stamped on horizontally and then I stamped the word & number, “ABC, 123” repeatedly using the lines as a guide. To create the pocket, I used Scor-Tape (1/8” wide) to close the two sides. The tapes are available at KSS store!

This card is entered to this week’s Crazy 4 Challenges (C4C37) - create a card/project that has some form of pocket.

These are the steps I did for each image (all inks are Memento):
(Apple) 1st – lady bug (1 x stamp off), 2nd – lady bug, 3rd – rhubarb stalk (1 x stamp off), 4th – rhubarb stalk

(Leave) 1st – bamboo leaves, 2nd – cottage ivy

(ruler) 1st – desert sand (1 x stamp off), 2nd – desert sand, 3rd – rich cocoa

      FTTC66 – Picture It!

      SONY DSC

      Hello everyone~

It is time for Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge(FTTC66)!  This week Maki Jones (yes, it’s me!) is our challenge host! She is challenging us to "picture it!"   Now, a photo card is one way of looking at the challenge; however, you can venture off into other avenues as well.  Think magazine pictures, real image designer papers, or take a picture of some of your favorite things and print it out!  The photo does not have to be the focal point of the card, either.  Think layered flowers, borders, tags, etc!  There are also many photo techniques that can be used from altered photos, vellum pictures,  and  faux cloisonné.  Whichever photo option you take, we would love to see what you create with the "picture it" challenge!

      SONY DSC

For the challenge, I decided to use my photo image papers I purchased for a long time ago when I was still an avid scrapbooker :p I’m glad those papers could still be used again instead of being tucked in the shelf.  I used the real daisy image paper for the background. Instead of coloring the basket from Easter Basket set, I paper pieced with the real bark image paper. The same bark image paper was also attached inside of the card. The main mat was created with Spellbinders classic scallop circle and label 3 Nestabilities. I stamped the daisy image from Gerber Daisies for three times on the classic white cardstock and colored them with Copic markers. Then they were trimmed to fit inside of the basket. I attached the bow on the basket handle and pearls on the punched corners and the sentiment mat.

Now, check out what the rest of FOF have created for the challenge!!

Hello and happy Kitchen Sink Monday everyone~

I hope you had a fabulous Mother’s day Sunday! My kids made strawberry cupcakes for me :):) They were so yummy and absolutely cute!! I attach the photo on the bottom if you want to check out :)

Today is my brother’s birthday! I haven’t celebrated his birthday together for over 15 years…Sometimes I wish I just fly to Tokyo to see him and back in one day…:( I miss him so much!! I hope he is having a wonderful birthday with his wife and 2 beautiful daughters!

Today’s card is a little different from ones I always create for KS Monday. After I saw the this tutorial by Beate Johns, I just had to try the beautiful 3D flowers for myself :):) I don’t have the same die she used but I found out I could cut flowers from my neglected Cricut machine! I used flower 2 (Shadow Blackout) from Georgia cartridge. I followed the tutorial HERE by Kathy Files. She has some great ideas using Cricut machine…and I got a lot of inspirations from her blog and video. I’m sure my hubby will be so happy if I start using the machine more ;) My daughter, Kimberly also loves to make those dimension flowers, too!!

After I cut the flowers with the distress designer paper from Basic Gray, I stamped with 3 Step Letter from the Past and Big & Bold Swashes and inked on the back with brayer. Then I started building the rose. You can easily customize your roses with some stamping and inking :):)

The sentiment from 3 Step Hearts & Roses was simply stamped on the white mat and the mat was dry embossed with the embossing folder.

Don't forget to check out what the rest of KS Crew square projects!!

Can you guess what my represented sets are?? Yes, they are my all time favorite sets – Tea for Two and  additional set TFT Special Blends!! I’ve created many cards and gift set using TFT…So, why not adding more? LOL.

I paper pieced the tea cups and tea pot with the designer paper from Basic Gray Nook & Pantry. The paper from the same collection was also used on the background of the card. I also created the matching gift tag…I love how it turned out :):) The back of the tag, I attached the pocket to insert the tea bag. The pocket was used the template stamp from TFT and I shortened it to fit to the tag size. Well, I’m going to leave more images. You can just click each photo to see the larger image.
