KS Monday–Praying For You

SONY DSC

Hello everyone~

It’s time for Kitchen Sink Monday. I hope you had a wonderful weekend.

Since the last Friday morning, I cannot stop thinking about people in Japan. I’m trying to live my life as normal as possible but I’m really having a hard time to deal with my emotion. The good news is that I got hold of my brother in Tokyo and all of my family and friends are safe except one…I still haven’t got hold of one of my high school friends who lives in Sendai, Miyagi. I hope she is OK… I cannot stop watching TV news and follow up online news about the earthquake. I cry every time I watch them but my feeling is nothing to compare with those people who have to face this tragedy right now. I will do what I can do…pray and donate. I believe Japan will be rebuilt and they will be back to a wonderful & beautiful country again just like they did after WWII and other typhoons and earthquakes!

You can help them while you are at home. Please share and spread!

Japan earthquake and tsunami: How to help

OK, Back to my regular KS Monday post…You can see all of my thoughts and feelings are toward to Japanese people when I was making today’s card ;) I originally wanted to make an Easter card with Multi Step Lilies set and more spring colors but I changed the sentiment to the one from Words of Comfort & Joy set for the last minute and redesigned the whole card….I think it was still turned out pretty.

KSS FSCC10

I used the sketch from Friday Sketch Carte Challenge 11 (FSCC11) . I also combined with these challenges: Tuesday Kitchen Pantry Challenge 9 (KPC09)Designer Papers and Wednesday Stock Up on Occasion Challenge (KSOCSympathy).

These are the steps I did for each image:
(Lily) 4th – Memento rhubarb stalk  3rd – rhubarb stalk (1 x stamp off), 2nd – Memento cantaloupe 1st – cantaloupe (1 x stamp off), 5th – Memento rich cocoa

(Leaf & stem) 2nd – Memento bamboo leaves, 1st – Memento new sprout, 3rd – cottage ivy

  1. Such a beautiful, heartfelt card Maki. Everyone is shocked by what has happened in Japan, but I can't even imagine how difficult it is for you and of course for all those living in that country. {BIG HUGS}

  8. Maki-san!

    I have been glued to the TV watching the news via TV Japan/NHK. My mom and the rest of the family (most in Tokyo) are safe too...for now. I totally agree with you that they will rebuild - they have to.

    But in the meantime, try and keep busy...all we can do is pray for them. I have been encouraging my Japanese friends through FaceBook.

    Hang in there! xo

  9. I know, Maki...I am at my wits end as well. I am so sad...cannot take myself away from the news. I hope your friend is safely in a shelter. Many prayers, my friend.

    I was asking about the sweet antique dealer who would come to the BX from Sendai. They have not been able to contact him...which is not surprising considering the phones are out. My prayer is that he and his family are safe as well. I can remember his face vividly. I always got an antique kokeshi (or 3!) from him when he was there.
