FTTC77 – Emily’s Pins Challenge

Cherries_&_Peaches_4-1_edited

Hello everyone~

It is time for Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge(FTTC77) !  It is the end of the month so we have a challenge host.  This month's host is Emily Keaton.  Emily is challenging us to  use “Pins”!   All kinds of pins will do.  Think stick pins, hat pins, safety pins, straight pins, diaper pins, even mini clothes pins or a brooch-style pin.  We would love to see what you create!

OK…you’re probably thinking where I used PINS. Since the challenge says “All kinds of pins will do”, I used the clothespins :) Plus, it was so fun to use the tiny clothespin for the last week’s FTTC card and I decided to use them again! I used Cherries & Peaches set with the altered box. The images were colored with Copic MarkersPoppy Collection, Tiger Lily Collection and Evergreen Collection.

I bought these lunch tin boxes for a while ago and they are stored in the cabinet for a long time…maybe too long, lol. I decided to bring them back to light after I read the one of Dare To Get Challenge 2010 over SCS. I also submitted to the couple more challenges for today’s project. There are those challenges…

You can follow this wonderful tutorial by Emily Giovanni to alter the tin box. My printer is out of ink, so I just used the 1 1/4” square & 1” circle punches to cut out the notch part.

I already sold the cherry tin box :):) and my daughter wants to have the peach one… I could just give it to her but I told she has to earn it with her chores and cleaning up her room ;) Mean mommy, lol!

RI SOTW – Week of Jul 26th, 2010

SONY DSC

Hello everyone~

It’s another Stamp of the Week from Repeat Impressions!! This week’s SOTW stamp is this beautiful dragonfly image, “ Damselfly (4402-O) ”. The SOTW is available exclusively to our RI blog readers at 50% OFF with the special discount code from Mon, Jul 26th – Sun, Aug 1st. To get the code and more information about the SOTW, please go to the RI blog “The House That Stamps Built”.

I stamped the damselfly image with Memento rich cocoa and colored the wings with Copic markers. I also repeated the same process with the layered image. Before I attached the image onto the circle mat, I put liquid glue on the wing and covered with glitter. It gives wonderful sparkle effect! Bamboo (5704-L) was stamped on the background mat and I sponged with 3 different inks (blue, orange and green). A part of Live, Laugh, Love (3108-J) was used for the sentiment.

This card is submitted to these Dare To Get Dirty 2010 over SCS.

KS Monday – Jul 26th, 2010

SONY DSC

Hello and Happy Monday, everyone~

I hope you had a wonderful weekend… I had a wonderful time at the Scrap Retreats that my SU demo hosted last Saturday. I even did scrapping!! It’s been so long since I made a layout…I made only 4 pages by myself. I also made 6x6 mini album and one 12 x 12 2-page layout with the ladies at the retreats…so it was not too bad :)

SONY DSC

Anyway, for today’s KS Monday, I made the gift card & box set for a baby. I used Multi Step Little Lambs set for the images and sentiments. The felt flowers were from a small Martha Stewart DIY package kit that I found at Wal-Mart…the package was discounted to $1.50 from $8.00!! Can’t miss the deal :):)

I created the box by following this tutorial from SCS. Since I’m still working on the Dare To Get Dirty ‘10, these are the challenges I submitted.

ACT39 – Delightful & Delicious

SONY DSC

Hello everyone~

I hope I’m not too late to submit this card to Curtain Call Color Challenge (ACT39).

The colors are remind of me Starbucks Coffee….So, I went that direction :):)  I started to stamp Delightful & Delicious set from Verve Stamps and created each layer.… there are some interruptions (some people call “KIDS” – of course  so it took some time to finish this. The handmade Kanzashi flower was added to complete the card. My mother-in-law is a fantastic quilter and every time she makes quilts, she gets fabric scraps, that are considering as trash. Those scraps are wonderful for making Kanzashi flowers! I keep her trash, make embellishments for my cards, and she uses my cards … I call it “A Circle of Craft Life” , lol!

This card is also submitted to these Dare To Get Dirty ‘10 challenges.

Dare to Get Dirty '08 -- Part 4

I can't believe I haven't update my blog for almost 3 weeks!! I'm very sorry.
I have the last 3 cards for Dare to Get Dirty '08 challenge.
Dare to Get Dirty '08

DTGD08Lindsey -- "Pink & Black & Faux Stitches"

This challenge was to use pink & black and also use faux stitch technique.
Who doen't love pink & black combination? If my DH didn't mind, I would coordinate my bedroom with the colors, lol.

Stamps: Garden Of Life, Polka Dot Basics (Papertrey Ink)
Paper: basic black, positively pink - yes! I still have them (Stampin' Up!), white cardstock, sweet blush (Papertrey Ink)
Ink: positively pink (Stampin' Up!), sweet blush (Papertrey Ink), Palette noir black (Superior)
Accessories: ribbon (Hobby Lobby), scalloped border punch (Stampin' Up!)

DTGD08Amy -- "3 1/4" x 6 1/2" Card & Something Clear"
This challenge was the challenge for me. I decided to use the acetate sheet to cover the whole card. I stamped the flowers with the dark brown ink on the moss green cardstock, and I stamped the sentiment and butterflies with white StazOn on the acetate sheet. It's really hard to see from the photo, but it looks coolIRL.

Stamps: Butterfly Kisses, Floral Frenzy, Women of Life, Spiral Bouquet (Papertrey Ink)
Paper: spring moss (Papertrey Ink), acetate (Stampin' Up!)
Ink: dark chocolate (Papertrey Ink), StazOn (Tsukineko)
Accessories: ribbon (Papertrey Ink)

DTGD08Julia -- "Stitching"

As you can see, this challenge was to stitch on the card. I was a little nervous for this challenge because I don't use my sewing machine for my cards.
I stamped the each quilt blocks and colored them with Stampin' markers. And then I cut and adhered them on the pink cardstock. I sewed the straight lines between the quilt blocks and the zig zag stiches around the quilt panel.
By the time I finished the card, I was comfortable with using the sewing machine. Will I sew my cards for the future? Definitely!!

Stamps: Quilter's Sampler (Papertrey Ink)
Paper: regal rose, pretty in pink (Stampin' Up!), dark chocolate, white cardstock (Papertrey Ink)
Ink: dark chocolate (Papertrey Ink), regal rose, Stampin' markers -regal rose, pretty in pink, close to cocoa, chocolate chip (Stampin' Up!) Signo gel pen (Uni-ball)
Accessories: white thread

Dare to Get Dirty '08 -- Part 3

I have more cards for Dare to Get Dirty '08!
Dare to Get Dirty '08

DTGD08Kittie -- "Make a Scene"

I used the masking technique to make the scene. I stamped the fences and masked them first. Next I stamped the trees and masked them. For the last, I stamped the house. I colored all of the images with Copic markers. The back scene was sponged with the green and blue inks.

Stamps: Boards & Beams (Papertrey Ink)
Paper: plum pudding, white cardstock, designer paper (Papertrey Ink)
Ink: Brilliance (Tsukineko), plum pudding (Papertrey Ink), mellow moss, cool carribean (Stampin' Up!), copics (.Too)
Accessories: ribbon (Papertrey Ink)

DTGD08Laura -- "Rip, Tear and Distressing Your Papers"

Honestly, I'm not goot at distressing. I enjoy doing it, but I don't know when to stop to make the nice distressed look. For this card I tored the plum cardstock with the freehands and I crumbled it to make the wrinkles. To make the papers look more distressed, I did DTP and sponged some. I also used the distressing tool for the eges. I wanted the card to look shabby-chic but does it look like it?

Stamps: Petal Prints, Carte Postale (Stampin' Up!)
Paper: sage shadow, pale plum, very vanilla, designer paper (Stampin' Up!)
Ink: creamy cocoa, pale plum, sage shadow, perfect plum & pale plum Stampin' markers
Accessories: ribbon, twine (Stampin' Up!) distressing tool (Tonic), cuttlebug die (Provo Crafts)

DTGD08Carole -- "Color Challenge - red, blue and yellow"

This was a fun challenge!! I chose the bright red, blue and yellow. Isn't the card perfect for a surfer dude? lol.
I stamped the surfboards with the red, blue and yellow inks, and I colored them with Prismacolor and gamsol. For the background, I stamped the flowers and the sentiment "Summer days" randomly.
To make the card look more bright and cheerful, I stamped 2 flowers, cut them out and mounted on the card.

Stamps: Do The Hula (Stampin' Up!), sentiment (Lockhart Stamp company)
Paper: brilliant blue, real red, yo yo yellow (Stampin' Up!) white cardstock (Papertrey Ink)
Ink: brilliant blue, real red, yo yo yellow (Stampin' Up!), Prismacolor pencils (Sanford)
Accessories: brads (Stampin' Up!), ribbon (Hobby Lobby)

DTGD08Natasha -- "Sketch Challenge"

Natasha's sketch is very clean and can be used for many occations! The 3 flowers were stamped with the light pink and the dark pink for just the edges. It took a while for me to cut them all out, lol.
For the quote, I stamped the whole sentence with the dark pink ink on the card , and I stamped "friendship" with the brown ink, cut it out and mount it over the quote.

Stamps: Floral Frenzy (Papertrey Ink)
Paper: sweet blush, dark chocolate, white cardstock, designer paper (Papertrey Ink)
Ink: sweet blush, berry sorbet, spring moss, dark chocolate (Papertrey Ink)
Accessories: ribbon (Papertrey Ink)

DTGD08Jen -- "Sketch Challenge"

Jen's sketch is very creative! It was so fun to play since I don't make the square cards so often.
I colored the image with Prismacolor pencils and gamsol. I sponged just a little around the image with the orange ink around. The flower frame was not in the plan, but for this case, I thought the more is the better, lol.

Stamps: Spring Song (Stampin' Up!)
Paper: pumpkin pie, tempting turquoise, designer papers (Stampin' Up!)
Ink: Pallete noir black (Superior), pumpkin pie (Stampin' Up!) Prismacolor pencils (Sanford)
Accessories: ribbon (Michael's ), flowers (Prima), embossing folder (Provo Crafts), Nestabillities (Spellbinders)

Dare to Get Dirty '08 -- Part 2

OK, it is 2nd post of Dare to Get Dirty '08 .
Dare to Get Dirty '08

DTGD08Jenn -- "Inspiration challenge" Make a card with using the cake photo as a inspiration.

The dress was stamped on the printed vellum. To make the background, I stamped the same dress stamp on the white cardstock first and masked the dress and the egdes of the cardstock. Then I stamped the script and swirl stamps. After the ink was dried, I sponged the green ink around the egde.
I took the inspiration from the green ribbon, and I attached my ribbon wavy like the photo.

Stamps: dress (Inkadinkado), French Script, Baroque Motifs (Stampin' Up!)
Paper: green galore, basic black, whisper white (Stampin' Up!)
Ink: green galore (Stampin' Up!), Brilliance (Tsukineko), distress dye ink (Ranger)
Accessories: ribbon (Daiso - Japanese 100 yen store, it's the same kind of stores with a dollar store in the US)

DTGD08Sharon -- "Stamp Simply"

This challenge was to make a simple card. Sharon says "if you use beautiful things, you don't have to DO much" I think it's so true!! I chose this beautiful flower stamp and I just made this image do all the work.
I used Nestabillities to make the window so that the inside of the card could be seen.
The flower was colored with Copics and sponged the opening part only. "K" was supposed to stand for "Kindness", but I guess you can use as an initial for the person's name that starts with "K".

Stamps: Bloomin' Beautiful, Baroque Motifs, Just K (Stampin' Up!)
Paper: lavender lace, very vanilla (Stampin' Up!)
Ink: Brilliance (Tsukineko), Copice (.Too)
Accessories: ribbon (Papertrey Ink), Nestabillities (Spellbinders)

DTGD08Holly -- "Sketch challenge"

This challenge was Sketch challenge! I rotated the sketch with 90 degree right and flipped vertically.

Stamps: Watercolor Garden II, Happy Harmony, Leaves a la Carte (Stampin' Up!)
Paper: appricot appeal, mellow moss, whisper white (Stampin' Up!)
Ink: appricot appeal, mellow moss, pumpkin pie, various Stampin' markers (Stampin' Up!)
Accessories: brads, ribbon (Stampin' Up!), Nestabillities (Spellbinders)

DTGD08Joan -- "Silhouettes"

This challenge is using solid object stamps and to make a card. When I use solid stamps, I love to make shadow looks. I actually used only 2 stamps for making background! For some of the flowers, I stamped with the peach color and heat embossed with the clear embossing powder. For the rest of the flowers, I just stamped off with the peach color. For the leaves, I just stamped with the green color for the leaves and light sand color for the shadows.

Stamps: Best Blossoms (Stampin' Up!)
Paper: close to cocoa, certainly celery, very vanilla (Stampin' Up!)
Ink: groovy guava, certainly celery, sahara sand, close to cocoa (Stampin' Up!) embossing marker (EK Success)
Accessories: ribbon (American Crafts), flowers (Prima), Nestabillities (Spellbinders), clear embossing powder (Stampin' Up!)

DTGD08Taylor, DTGD08RoseAnn -- I combined 2 challenges for this card. Taylor's challenge is "Cupcake Challenge" and Rose Ann's challenge is "Let's Get Flappy!"

For these challenge, I had to use the cupcake image (s) and also make the flap card. You can find the flap card tutorial here.
The cupcake was paper pierced for just the bottom part, and the top part was colored with Copics. To make it look yummier and sweeter, I used frosted lace Stickles. I also added the jewel for the cherry {Yum!}
My flap card is 4 1/2" x 4 1/2". For the flap part, I used Nestabillities and the cupcake panel is actually holding the flap to stay shut.

Stamps: cupcake (Lockhart Stamp Company), Birthday Basics (Papertrey Ink)
Paper: regal rose, chocolate chip, very vanilla, designer papers (Stampin' Up!)

I used the printed vellum for the background and dry embossed with Cuttlebug embossing folder. The image by Sarah Kay was colored with Prismacolor pencils and gamsol. To tie the ribbons was a little tricky, but I somehow made it look nice.

It was the challenge to use white on base and make a simple card
I don't usually make white base cards because I'm a messy stamper, lol. However I really like the simple look of the white base.
I used Floral Frenzy stamp set from Papertrey Ink. I did only white cardstock with no layers. I dry embossed with Nestabillities, and made a little slit for the ribbon.

DTGD08Jody -- "It's all about the ribbon!"

For this challenge, I had to choose the ribbons, and I made the card with them in the mind. My ribbon for this card was the red, pink and gray striped ribbon! You can see I took the inspiration from it to make the card.

The image was stamped on the watercolor paper and colored with the reinkers and watercolor brush. I also colored another flower image, cut it out and mounted on the main image to make the dimensional look.

DTGD08Michelle -- "Masculine card"

For this card, I stamped the elephant, drew the image with the embossing marker and heat embossed with the clear embossing powder. Each trees were stamped with the brown ink and colored with Stampin' markers. Then I did the same heat embossing technique for the trees like I did for the elephant (I did this process to one tree at the time). After all the trees were done, I sponged for the grass, sky and shadow.
