FTTC82 – Summer Memories

SONY DSC

It is time for Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge (FTTC82)! It is the end of the month so we have a challenge host! Traci Major is our challenge host! Traci is challenging us to Summer Memories! With summer quickly drawing to a close, Traci wants us to reflect on one of our summer activities and create a card capturing one of our favorite memories of Summer 2010! We would love to see what you create!

We have a long summer…most likely we skip winter here, lol.  Since early summer, my mother in law’s yard has placed about 10 humming bird feeders all over the yard. It’s a small pleasure but we’ve enjoyed watching bunch of humming birds fly all summer. It’s funny that each humming bird has personality just like human … some are nice and some are not so nice :)  I just love watching them every time I walk to MIL’s yard. I will definitely plan to place some feeders next year so that they can come to my yard too!

SONY DSCI used Humming Along set to create the card. The stamped images were colored with Copic markers (Poppy Collection, Evergreen Collection, Green grass Collection & Spruce Collection). The designer paper was embellished with the scalloped edge ribbon and the same ribbon was used for the bow. To finish off the card, I embellished with pearls.

KS Monday – Aug 30th, 2010

SONY DSC

Hello everyone~ It’s time for Kitchen Sink Monday.

Today’s card is very personal…I made it my in law’s family. Troy’s grandmother past away on Wednesday :( My kids and I couldn’t attend her memorial service but at least the card was with them… I will miss her so much…my grandparents were all gone before I turned 10 years old (I never met my father’s parents because they died when he was very young). So, she is like my biological grand mother just like my mother in law is like my biological one. I’ve found some comfort and peace every time when I think she is in the better place and no more suffering.

I used Multi Step Lilacs for the main image….they are Grandma’s favorite flowers :) I embellished the card with some rhinestones and ruffled wrinkle ribbon. The sentiment was simply stamped using Simple Sentiments.

These are the steps I did for each image:
(Lilacs) 3rd – SU elegant eggplant (1 x stamp off) , 2nd – SU almost amethyst, 1st – SU bashful blue, 4th – elegant eggplant

(leaves & stems) 1st – SU pear pizzazz, 2nd – SU old olive, 3rd – SU always artichoke

I thought the new Christmas stamp sets are just perfect for the sketch…I also combined Curtain Call Color Challenge (ACT44) for the color combo. So it didn’t take a long time to think what to do :):)

I stamped Candy Cane Orb (8901-I) from Snow Globes and Ornaments for the four background layers. Plus, we are going to be busy with football games, cheer competitions, Halloween….can’t wait a fall season coming!

SONY DSC

Today’s card is pretty much reading my mind, lol. Yes, I’m thinking of the next season :):) and all about the fall colors :):)

I used Multi Step Big Leaves and created 2 different shades of leaves. As you see, they were stamped on the letter designer papers. It looks cool how the prints see through the colors.

These are the steps I did for each image (All inks are from Memento):
(orange leave) 1st – cantaloupe , 2nd – tangelo, 3rd – potter’s clay

(red leave) 1st – cantaloupe, 2nd – lady bug, 3rd – rhubarb stalk

The greeting, “Thinking of You” is from 3 Step Hibiscus. I stamped it with VersaMark and heat embossed with copper EP. To finish off the card, I added the two tone ribbon with button and brown pearls on the corners.

Here is my sneak peek card :):)

SONY DSC

SONY DSC

For the first card, I stamped the image with Memento ink and colored with Copic markers. Then I inked the globe with VersaMark and heat embossed with holographic EP. The background was stamped with another image from the set.  The sentiment was stamped on the fancy tag and I embellished the ribbon and pearls to finish off the card.

SONY DSC

I also made this clean & simple card with combining SCS Color Combination 284 (CC284). CAS cards are wonderful to mass produce especially you want to send cards to many people during the holiday season. I think this card design is going to be the one for this year’s Christmas cards for me :):)  Not too much to explain about what I did but I used pearls to embellish the sentiment and inked the edge of the white card layer.

Edited: A couple people have been asking what stamps I used for this card. I used the same Snow Globes and Ornaments set from Repeat Impressions…this set is available on August 23rd in the RI online store :)

So, do you like the new Snow Globes and Ornaments collection?? How about winning an unmounted sheet of your own set??

Hello everyone~

FTTC80 Color Combo Challenge 17Aug2010

It is time for Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge(FTTC80)!!  Silke Ledlow is our challenge host.  She is challenging us to a color scheme!  This one is not only easy and fun, but the colors are sure to make a beauty.   Simply make a card using the four colors of hot pink,  soft yellow, kraft, and black  that are listed in the picture and link it here!  While Flourishes stamps are not required, if you have them by all mean use them! We would love to see what you create!

What do you think of my card? To be honest, the combo was not so easy for me, but I really love how it was turned out :):) I used Summer Botanicals set (on sale!) for the silhouette poppy image. The sentiment from Tag Lines was stamped on the fancy tag. To finish off the card, I embellished with the bow I made with latte satin finish cotton ribbon and pearls.

Hello and happy Monday, everyone~ Time for Kitchen Sink Monday!! Woohoo!

It’s another week of hot summer days here…Kids are going back to school next Monday and we’re getting back to our normal routine. (Yay!!) The one thing I encourage my kids to do throughout the year is to read books. Since their school is going to start soon, I decided to make a bookmark for each of them so that they can enjoy reading more :):)

These corner bookmarks are so easy to make…I recommend Beate’s tutorial from SCS if you’d like to find out how to make it. For my son’s bookmark, I used 3 Step School Days. SONY DSC

FOF Aug 10

It is time for Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge(FTTC79)!! This week Cindy Haffner  is hosting. She is challenging us to a sketch she has designed. As far as sketches go, there is not much of an explanation necessary. You can turn it and modify the shapes to fit your size card, but in the end, it should still look like the sketch. Good Luck!!! We cannot wait to see what you create with it!

I picked Berry Sweet set for today’s challenge. I don’t know why I waited for using this sweet blueberry image until now… It’s absolutely beautiful!! The image was stamped with Memento tuxedo black and colored with Copic markersThe Delphinium Collection and The Evergreen Collection. The swirl frame was created with the smallest die from Lattice Pendant die set (on sale!). I used 8 pieces to create the frame (I will upload how I put together with photo images later if you like to know). The corners of the navy layer and the borders on the white mat were made with the same decorative corner & border punch. I used the Basic Gray designer paper and embellished the gingham ribbon (on sale!) & pearls to finish the card.

FTTC78 – NO Embellies!!

SONY DSC

Hello everyone~

It is time for Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge (FTTC78) !! This week Dee Jackson is our host.  Dee is challenging us to a limited supplies challenge. The limit?  NO Embellishments. What does this mean? It means that we let the image we use speak for itself. We CAN use ink, stamps, paper, punches, die cuts, and coloring tools.  We cannot add rhinestones, prima flowers, buttons, pearls, ribbons, brads, etc.  We would love to see what you create with this limited supplies challenge.

I have been using embellishments every card I make for a loooong time so this was a quite challenge for me. However, I love the point of what challenge is about….and Flourishes stamps are just perfect for that! I used this beautiful images from Humming Along set. I stamped the image with Memento tuxedo black on the iridescent cardstock. Love the shimmer on the paper :):) Then I colored with Copic markers (most of colors were used Tiger Lily Collection, Evergreen Collection, Green Grass Collection and Spruce Collection).I think the card turned out just wonderful with no embellishments. Don’t you think so too?

This card is also submitted to the Flourishes NEW monthly challenge, Bring Back Beautiful Challenge (BBB01)!! Be sure to check out the challenge with the new fabulous BBB challenge team on the first Monday of every month!!

KS Monday – Aug 2nd, 2010

SONY DSC

Hello and happy Kitchen Sink Monday everyone~

August, here we come!! The weather here is sure feeling like I’m in the oven :P  My mother in law is leaving for Upstate NY for a couple months this week. Grandma Murphy is very sick right now and I was going to drive up there with her & my kids and we were going to fly back later without her….but unfortunately the economy right now is not allowed to do it….:( The good thing is that Aunt Sue is flying here tomorrow and drive back with my MIL. So, instead of escaping from this heat, I’m going to take care of all animals…including humming birds….that’s a quite responsibility…I may move all humming birds to my yard, hee hee.

SONY DSC

Well, enough for that chit chat. Let me explain what I made for today’s card. I noticed that I haven’t use this beautiful set, 3 Step She Shells…this summer yet, so I decided to create a vintage look card, combining with 3 Step Letter From the Past for the background. The background was used Faux tearing technique. I used the torn masking for blocking each space and stamped the script image, then I sponged the tearing edges with SU sahara sand and soft suede. I repeated the process for the entire mat. After I stamped the shell images on the main mat, I used Copic markers and created the sand look with doodling dots and sponged the edge (again, with SU sahara sand and soft suede). The word from Vintage Words was stamped with SU chocolate chip.

This card was used the sketch from SCS Sketch Challenge 291 (SC291).

These are the steps I did for each image:
(big shell) 3rd – SU soft suede (1 x stamp off), 2nd – Memento desert sand, 1st – desert sand (1 x stamp off), repeat 1st step, 4th – soft suede (1 x stamp off), repeat 4th step, 5th – soft suede

(Small shell & star shell) 2nd – SU soft suede (1 x stamp off), 1st – Memento desert sand, 3rd – soft suede
