RI Designer’s Choice Challenge!!–Darsie

Hello and happy Wednesday everyone~

It’s exciting to let you know that Repeat Impressions Rock Stars are starting a new challenge after we closed the CASE Wednesday Challenge!!

It’s called “Designer’s Choice Challenge”!! One of the RS is going to be a challenge host and we create whatever the host is challenging us :) Sounds fun?

The talented stamper, Darsie is going to kick off the first DCC and she is challenging us to *create a scene*!! You will have two weeks (by Apr 12th) to enter your project. When you finish your project, make sure you link it to the DCC post where the inlinkz are located so that you will have a chance to win the RI gift certificate! For more information about the DCC, please visit The House That Stamps Built.

Can’t wait to see your project!!

Here is my scenery card :)

SONY DSC

What do you think? I’m not a creative scenery stamper but it was done easier than I thought, thanks to RI’s awesome stamps!! I used Mountain Vista (629-I) , Large Pine Forest (2709-I) and Small Pine Tree (2710-D) to create the scene. After the Mountain Vista image was colored with Copic markers, I sponged for the whole scene to add more colors. Then I simply stamped the pine tree images. I also off-stamped the same tree images and blended the color with blender pen to create the shadow. For the sentiment, I stamped Life Is Not…(6113-K) on the white mat, punched the edges with the border punch. Then I masked the edge and sponged the inside of the mask. To finish off, I dressed the sentiment mat with the satin ribbon.

FTTC111–Use Those Stamps!

SONY DSC

Hello everyone~

It’s time for Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge (FTTC111). Betty Wright is the challenge host and she is challenging us to use some of the other stamps in the stamp sets…I’m sure you have those stamps in the set that are not used often or never! Let’s bring them back to your table for this wonderful challenge!! Please visit Flourishes blog for more detail about how to play. Can’t wait to see your card/project!

Well, it was a little tough challenge for me…because to tell the truth, I have many of those stamps I should use more often :P However, I have been thinking about making this card for a while in the deep of my heart and I think I finally had a chance to make it :) As you see, the card is for my friend in Japan who live in the area where the huge earthquake hit. Thank goodness, she and her family are safe and trying to rebuild their life.

I used the fish, water wave & saying from Water Lilies set. They are definitely needed to be inked again! I colored the image with Copic markers and stamped the saying “Peace with You” on the red circle piece. Then it was heat embossed with white EP. I used the Japanese designer paper and the white background was stamped with the silhouette cherry blossom image from Cherry Blossoms set.  To finish off, the card was dressed with white satin ribbon & red pearls to finish off.

The sketch was based on Sweet Shop Sketch 101 (SSS101). I also submit this card to Use It Tuesday Challenge #4 (USE004)Use color red … I used the Japanese designer paper I was hoarding too long and red tiny pearls that were actually last 4 left in my stash!

SONY DSC

Hello and happy Kitchen Sink Monday everyone!!

Today is also “First Day of Spring”!! That’s right, Spring is officially here… I know some of you are still having winter days but it won’t be long… you will enjoy sitting outside and smelling those spring flowers!

My kids had their spring break last week and we went camp from Thurs – Sun. It was absolutely the wonderful and perfect weather for camp! We had no internet or cable for a few days….I LOVED those part too… it was nice to stay my mind off from CNN or Headline News for a while.

I made two cards with KS challenges before I left for camping.

The card above was made for Tuesday Kitchen Pantry Challenge (KPC10) Focus on Corners. I used Multi Step Bitty Tulips set to create the image and Ready 4 Any Holidays for the saying. I used two different corner punches to create those decorative corners and embellished with turquoise rhinestones. To finish off, the ribbon was embellished with the vintage brad.

These are the steps I did for each image:

Purple Tulips: 4th - SU elegant eggplant, 3rd - SU perfect plum, 2nd - SU pale plum, 1st - pale plum (1 x stamp off), 5th - Memento tuxedo black (1 x stamp off)
Yellow Tulips: 4th - SU pumpkin pie, 3rd - SU daffodil delight, 2nd - SU barely banana, 1st - barely banana (1 x stamp off), 5th - cajun craze (1 x stamp off)
Leaves: 4th - SU always artichoke, 3rd - SU old olive, 2nd - SU pear pizazz, 1st - pear pizazz (1 x stamp off)
Glass Bowl: 3rd - VersaFine imperial purple, 2nd - Memento london fog, 1st - Memento summer sky

The next card is Clean and Simple. I was made for Monday 10 Minutes Card 11 (10MC12). I used Multi Step Bunch O’ Balloons set for the single balloon image and Simple Sentiments for the saying. I think the balloon and those fun DP are great for the boy’s birthday card ;)

These are the steps I did for each image:

Balloon: 3rd - Memento rhubarb stalk, 2nd - Memento lady bug, 1st - lady bug (1 x stamp off), 4th - VersaFine imperial purple (1 x stamp off)

KS Monday–Praying For You

SONY DSC

Hello everyone~

It’s time for Kitchen Sink Monday. I hope you had a wonderful weekend.

Since the last Friday morning, I cannot stop thinking about people in Japan. I’m trying to live my life as normal as possible but I’m really having a hard time to deal with my emotion. The good news is that I got hold of my brother in Tokyo and all of my family and friends are safe except one…I still haven’t got hold of one of my high school friends who lives in Sendai, Miyagi. I hope she is OK… I cannot stop watching TV news and follow up online news about the earthquake. I cry every time I watch them but my feeling is nothing to compare with those people who have to face this tragedy right now. I will do what I can do…pray and donate. I believe Japan will be rebuilt and they will be back to a wonderful & beautiful country again just like they did after WWII and other typhoons and earthquakes!

You can help them while you are at home. Please share and spread!

Japan earthquake and tsunami: How to help

OK, Back to my regular KS Monday post…You can see all of my thoughts and feelings are toward to Japanese people when I was making today’s card ;) I originally wanted to make an Easter card with Multi Step Lilies set and more spring colors but I changed the sentiment to the one from Words of Comfort & Joy set for the last minute and redesigned the whole card….I think it was still turned out pretty.

It’s time for Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge (FTTC108) . Cindy Haffner is our challenge host and she is challenging us to *SEW* :) You can use real stitches or faux…which ever you prefer. Can’t wait your *SEW* pretty creation!!

I used Butterflies & Blossoms set for the images and sentiment. The flower image & sentiment were stamped on the white circle mat. I stamped the extra flower image & butterflies on the scrap and colored all images with Copic markers. Then I trimmed the ones on the scraps and adhered on the main mat.

For the SEW-ing challenge, I used my neglected sewing machine and zig-zag stitched the lace trim, embossed border and pleated ribbon. To finish off, I embellished with swirl pearls to look like the butterfly’s trail.

The sketch is come from Mojo Monday Sketch (MOJO181) and the color combo was inspired from CR84FN Color Challenge 18 (CR84FN18) .

KS Monday–Have a Lucky Day!

SONY DSC

Hello and Happy Monday everyone~

I hope you had a wonderful weekend. I didn’t update my blog for a few days but I was busy with making cards :)

It’s nothing related with card making but Son of Troy’s cousin was involved a terrible car accident a couple days ago. He’s got a severe head injury and transported to the hospital in Dallas. Although they were able to take off pressure from his brain, his condition is still in critical. He is only 14 years old and strong with kindred hearts. I believe he will make it through but our family can use your prayers…

OK, I have two cards to show you today…

You might need shades for the card above, lol. It was actually made for the challenge from Sunday Everything PLUS the Kitchen Sink Challenge 6 (EP06). Rainbow colors make me happy and lucky and I decided to create the card with the feelings. The sketch is come from Sweet Stop Sketch (SSS98).

SONY DSC

I used Multi Step Lucky Horseshoe and Multi Step Shamrocks & Clover sets to create the main image. The saying is from Ready 4 Any Holidays. I got these happy & fun rainbow papers from Hobby Lobby…they are from Paper Studios…my daughter and I are in love with the collection.

Here is my card.

As you see, I rotated the layout for the stamps I used.  I stamped Underpants Frogs (7120-L) for the image and I used the coordinated poem stamp, May the Light … (7007-J) for the sentiment :) The image was colored with Copic markers. I kept Harriet’s CAS style and I really like how the card was turned out! To finish off, I embellished with pearls on the ribbon border and punched border.

I decided to use KSS 3 Step Pansies set because pansy is the flower of March and I know Tammy loves Kitchen Sink Stamps!!

I used masking technique to create the stamped design. The color combo was inspired from Color Dare #98 (CD98). I also used the sketch from Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge 106 (SSSC106). To finish off, I adhered the Spellbinders butterfly and embellished with pale purple pearls.

Now, you can hop over to Cindy Haffner.

FTTC107– An Irish Blessing

SONY DSC

Hello and happy Tuesday everyone~

Today is March 1st!! March is always a busy month for me…spring break, birthdays, spring cleaning….  Mardi Gras is also falls into March this year. (hopefully we can go to one of Mardi Gras parades in my neighborhood this weekend) And… I cannot ignore St. Patrick’s day since a half of my husband’s family is mostly an Irish :) (Maybe that’s why my son LOVES green since he was a baby? lol)

This week’s Flourishes Timeless Tuesday challenge (FTTC107) is a just perfect for those people who love green!! Dee Jackson is challenging us to create a St. Patty’s day card. If you don’t have anything for St. Patty’s, you can just use *green* for your card/project! Please visit Flourishes blog for more information about the challenge.

For my card, I used this beautiful St Patty’s set, Irish Blessing. I stamped the image and the saying on the circle mat. The image was colored with Copic markers and DI walnut stain for more shading. The background was stamped with little clover stamp. To finish off, I embellished with green ribbon, black rhinestones and green Prima tea roses. (aren’t they cute?…I love the different shades of green!)

This card is also submitted to Sweet Stop Sketch 98 (SSS97).
