Hello and happy Kitchen Sink Monday everyone~
I hope you've had a wonderful & restful holiday time with your family and friends. Today's KS Monday is the last one for the year 2009! This year I was so blessed that Maria gave me a chance to be one of KS Crews and got to show my creations in my blog every Monday. I hope this will continue next year and you - my friends will come back to see what I do :):)

I created this quick card for my brother's family in Japan. One of Japanese customs is to send cards on New Year's day because it is the biggest holiday for them and the holiday season starts from New Year's day. What people do for Christmas here, Japanese people do for New Year's day. It is also the time I always miss my family and friends in Japan...even after 15 years living in the US, this homesick thingy always comes back from time to time :(

I used Multi Step Kittens & Pups for the main image and created the greeting using Mix it Up! and Whole Family. Since the year 2010 is Year of Tiger, I used the kittens image, (it's a cute version of tigers, right) :) I also spelled "MEEW" instead of "NEW", hee hee. I've had the punny idea for a while and I finally got to use it :):)

These are the steps I did for the lily of the valley image:
(kittens) 4th - Memento rich cocoa, 3rd - Memento potter's clay, 2nd - potter's clay (1 x stamp off), 1st - Memento desert sand

  • Remember, you can always use the discount promotion code "MAKIKO10KSS" (please type a capital "O" at the end of my name and a zero in the number for 10) to get 10% off while you shop at KSS store .

  • KS Crew Challenge #20 (KSCC#20)'s deadline is December 31st and the challenge is to create a gift box, bag, or wrap. Don't miss a chance to win Kitchen Sink gift certificate!!

Stamps: Multi Step Kittens & Pups, Mix it Up!, Whole Family (KSS)
Paper: pink pirouette (SU), dark chocolate (PTI), classic white (Flourishes), Nook & Pantry dp (Basic Gray)
Ink: Memento dessert sand, potter's clay, rich cocoa, rhubarb stalks (Tsukineko)
Accessories:
ribbon, rhinestones
Tools: Nestabilities, border punch

Like some of you, I'm dealing with the endless pile of laundry every day and I wish I could enjoy doing laundry like stamping, lol. I used many bright and happy colors for the card so at least laundry can make me happy on my card, hee hee.
All images were colored with Copics. The laundry with basket was adhered with the dimensional adhesives. The clouds on the background were created using the sponge and the scalloped circle template that was made with punch. The grass was inked with the sponge masking the clouds part.

TSG Sneak Peek -- Garden of Friends

Hello everyone and welcome to There She Goes January Sneak Peek & Blog Hop challenge! If you came from Julie's blog, you just stepped in a right place :) If not, you may want to start from TSG blog to start this hoppin' fun event and win a prize!!

Today's sneak peek is about this beautiful flower set, Garden of Friends. I'm a huge fan of flower images and I literally gasped when I saw the set for the first time, lol. It's also a wonderful set to color with any of your favorite coloring mediums. Garden Of Friendship is a 4x6 stamp set that includes a total of 22 stamps and will sell for $15.

I thought it would be worth to try designing a wreath with some of the beautiful images. I started with tracing the circle on the white mat and stamped the filler (small leaves and stalks) images along the circle line. The hydrangea and leave images were stamped on another white cardstock and colored with Copics. After trimming the all images, each piece was attached using the circle line as a guide. To finish the wreath, I stamped the sentiment and attached the bow.

- So, do you want to win Garden of Friends sets??
All you have to do is to go to each of the Trendsetter’s Blogs and leave a comment on their Garden of Friends Blog Hop Challenge post. After you have finished commenting, return to the TSG Blog to add your name to the Mr. Linky at the bottom of the Blog hop challenge post. A winner will be chosen randomly using a random number generator to receive their very own set of Garden of Friends. The winner will be announced Saturday (Dec 26th) during the Release Party Chat.

FTTC47 -- Artist Trading Card

Plese scroll down to the next post for TSG Changing of the Season Sale Blog Hop post. Thank you~

Hello everyone~
It is time for Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge(FTTC47) ! This week Cindy Haffner is our host. Cindy is challenging us to ATC or Artist Trading Cards. These wonderfully sized trading cards 2.5 X 3.5 are perfect for making quick last minute cards. If you make a bunch ahead of time all you need to do is add it to a card base. Get creative with these trading cards and join us in the fun! Here is a link from SCS to give you a little more insight into ATC. We would love to see what you create!

I started my ATC using this beautiful bouquet image from Winter Bouquet set. I originally planned to stamp with black ink and color the image but my crazy mind came up to me to whisper "Color the background only, Maki" ;) So, I stamped it with Memento rhubarb stalk and colored the background with Copics (YG91 and 93) instead. To finish the ATC, I attached the rhinestones and pearls and photo corners that were embossed with the embossing folder. I hope you like it :)

Stamps: Winter Bouquet (Flourishes)
Paper: classic white (Flourishes), kiwi kiss, riding hood red, pink pirouette (SU)
Ink: Memento rhubarb stalk (Tsukineko), Copic Collection - YG91, 93 from Evergreen
Accessories:
rhinestones, pearls
Tools: photo corner punch, CB embossing folder

TSG Changing of the Seasons Sale Blog Hop

Hello everyone~
It's time for TSG Changing of the Seasons Sale Blog Hop! Some of the Trendsetters have created beautiful cards showing off the stamp sets featured in our Changing Of The Seasons Sale. If you came from Jodi's blog, you are on a right track. If you not, go to visit TSG blog to start this fun event. You will have a chance to win a prize from this blog hop challenge after all :):)

I created this card using Act of Kindness. I love the nature images and sentiments from the set. It is the set I grab when I make "thank you" cards time after time :)
For the border mat, I took my colors from the beautiful dp from Basic Gray and stamped the leaves randomly with 4 different colors. The main mat was simply stamped using the tree branch and the words. Then the flower images (that were inked using Rock 'n Roll technique) and the pearls were add on the branch. The larger pearls were also attached on the flowers. I did some sewing and attached the ribbon and button to complete the card.

Hello and happy Kitchen Sink Monday, everyone~
I know all of us are a kind of busy this week (or maybe it's only me??) so I will try to keep this post quick and short ;)

The flower image I used for today's card is Multi Step Lily of the Valley from A Year of Thanks 2. I created the brick wall using the tutorial from Splitcoast Stampers. The only thing I did differently from the tutorial was I masked the lily when I stamped the script image from 3 Step Letters from the Past. Then I sponged around the lily to give the depth while the mask was still on.
The swirl images on the corners are stamped using Big & Bold Swashes.

These are the steps I did for the lily of the valley image:
(Lily of the valley) 5th - SU close to coca, 4th - SU garden green, 3rd - SU old olive, 2nd - SU kiwi kiss, 1st - kiwi kiss (1 x stamp off)

Stamps: A Year of Thanks 2, 3 Step Letters from the past, Big & Bold Swashes (KSS)
Paper: classic white (Flourishes), so saffron (SU), dark chocolate, Bitty Box Basics (PTI)

Our First Gingerbread Cookie House

Hi everyone~ It's Sunday and the last day of the weekend before Christmas Day!! Wow, it's almost the end of year, isn't it?
Just like most of people, I've been a busy bee with getting ready for the big day, plus I've been nursing both of my kids from cold bugs...Although their coughs are still bad, they are feeling much better :):)

Yesterday my mother in law prepared to make a gingerbread house for us. None of us built gingerbread houses before, even my MIL who was a fantastic baker and cake decorator. We had a lot of fun to decorate it and I thought the house was turned out pretty good ;)

Here are some photos for the gingerbread we built. Just remember, it was the first time for all of us, lol.

Do you see the poor snowman?? It's melting for the warm Texas winter, lol.

OK, We are heading out to the crowded mall now. I hope I can come back early enough to make a quick card and post it later. If not, I will be back for Kitchen Sink Monday and TSG January Sneak Peek week tomorrow!

Thank you for stopping by. Have a wonderful holiday week!

Color Throwdown #73 and more

Hello everyone~
I'm so excited to know There She Goes is sponsoring Color Throwdown #73!! The lucky winner of the challenge will win one TSG stamp set of their choice! Make sure to enter your name and project on Mr. Linky of the challenge post for a chance to win!

So, what do you think about my card?? I had a lot fun making it, lol. They are bright, fun and bold all together! I combined There She Goes challenge 33 (TSG33) and SCS Sketch challenge 259 (SC259). TSG33 is hosted by the Trendsetter, Wendy and SC259 is hosted by another Trendsetter, Holly :):)
I started with stamping the snowflake images on the background panel using Stick Together. The polka dots mats from DCVW were already embossed and glittered (nice!). The always artichoke border was embossed using CB embossing folder and DTPed with white ink.
The main mat was created using Penguin Love. All images were colored with Copics and Stickles was added on the snow.

Stamps: Penguin Love, Stick Together (TSG)
Paper: cool caribbean, real red (SU), Bazzil cardstock, DCVW dp, classic white (Flourishes)
Ink: cool caribbean, real red, kiwi kiss, always artichoke (SU), Memento tuxedo black (Tsukineko), Copic markers
Accessories: ribbons, rhinestones

Tools: Nestabilities, CB embossing folder

Here is what happened today....
I was planning to post this card earlier but School called me that my son was sick so I had to pick him up early. He was at home the last 2 days and he looked fine this morning...so I sent him to school....bad judgement of mine :( So after I got him, I took him to the clinic. The doctor told me he got ear & throat infection...yikes! I'm just glad this happened this week, not next week ;) He has a plenty time to rest before the big day coming :):)

Well, that's all from me. Thank you for stopping by.

FTTC46 -- Stenciling

Hello everyone~
It is time for Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge(FTTC46) ! This week Betty Wright is our host. Betty is challenging us to stenciling. Stenciling is really popular right now in cardmaking. You can use your spellbinder templates, stencil a fluffy scalloped sky, or use other stencils either store bought or handmade to add some stenciling to your card this week. Here are a couple of links from SCS to give you alittle more insight into stenciling. Tutorial 1 and Tutorial 2. We would love to see what you create!

For the challenge, I cut out and embossed the butterflies using Spellbinders Butterflies Shapabilities. Then using daubers, I did stenciling the butterflies with Memento cantaloupe, tangelo and rich cocoa. The center of the butterflies were adhered with glue pen so that the wings could be 3D.
The daffodil image from A Year in Flowers Calendar set 1 was stamped with Memento tuxedo black on Classic White cardstock and colored with Copics Collections - Daffodil, Green Grass and YR04, 07 from Tiger Lily. The papers from Basic Gray Nook & Pantry were used for the card and the flourish image from Ornamental Elements was stamped on the yellow dp. The greeting was used the set from Sweet Violets.

The card was used the mirror image of the sketch from Mojo Monday 117 (MOJO117).

Paper:
classic white (Flourishes), Nook & Pantry dp (Basic Gray), certainly celery (SU), kraft (PTI)

FTTC45 -- Gate fold Card

Hello everyone~
It is time for Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge(FTTC45) ! This week Cindy Haffner is our challenge host. Cindy is challenging us to gate fold cards. Here are a couple of links to help you get started from SCS. Gate fold 1 and Gate fold 2. Gate fold cards are great year round, but something about opening a card from two sides this time of year gives a more regal, gift-like presentation. We love to see what you create.

All images and the sentiment were from the set, Christmas Tea. The tea pot and cup were all colored with Copic Collections (R19 from Petunia, W3, W1 from Warm Neutrals and G40, G82 from Field). The pot was placed like it was pouring the tea to the cup when the card was closed :):)
Raspberry Fizz mats and Sultry papers from Basic Gray were layered on the classic ivory card base. The vintage corners are adhered all four corners and the pink rhinestones were attached the main mat to finish the card.

Stamps: Christmas Tea (Flourishes)
Paper: classic ivory (Flourishes), Sultry dp (Basic Gray), raspberry fizz (PTI)

Ink: Memento tuxedo black (Tsukineko), Copic Collection - Peony, Warm Neutrals, Field

Hello everyone~
I hope you had a wonderful weekend. Kitchen Sink Stamps just released one new set, A Year of Thanks II!!! The set comes with a nice circle tin and I think it's going to be such a wonderful gift to give someone who loves to stamp :):) Oh, of course you can keep for yourself to use, lol. Go check it out the entire images in the set HERE!!

So, today is the first Monday of December -- that means it's a time for Kitchen Sink Crew Challenge!!!
This month's KS Crew challenge (KSCC#20) is hosted by Maria and she is challenging us to "Wrap it, Bag it or Tag it!!" The challenge is a perfect timing for the holiday gifts you are going to give. The deadline for the challenge is New Year's Eve eve, December 31st and 3 winners will get a gift certificate to use at Kitchen Sink online store! We hope you will play it with us.

For my project, I started from cutting two 6" circle tags with My Mind's Eye Holiday paper pack using Cricut machine. The bottom of the tags was trimmed slightly so that they could be stood up. I created the box with the same paper pack and sandwiched it with the circle tags. After attaching the silver grommets to the circle holes, I looped the red ribbon and tied the bow. The circle tags are 5 3/4" across and the box is 3" wide, 3" tall and 1 1/2" deep.
All images were stamped with Multi Step Christmas Lights. Do you know this fun set costs only $7.50 ? It's hard to see but I added Glossy Accents on each large light.

These are the steps I did for each image:
Memento inks were used for all steps
(red light) 5th - tuxedo black, 4th - london fog, 3rd - rhubarb stalk, 2nd lady bug, 1st - lady bug (1 x stamp off)
(green light) 5th tuxedo black, 4th - london fog, 3rd - cottage ivy, 2nd bamboo leaves, 1st - bamboo leaves (1 x stamp off)

Stamps: Christmas Lights (KSS)
Paper: holiday designer papers (MME), vintage cream (PTI)
Ink: Memento tuxedo black, london fog, rich cocoa, rhubarb stalk, lady bug, cottage ivy, bamboo leaves, dandelion, rose bud (Tsukineko)
Accessories:
ribbon, silver grommets, Glossy Accents
Tools: Nestabilities, Cricut Plantin Schoolbook cartridge

The stamp set is the newly released set, Birdie Wishes. Love the cutie bird! This pretty paper is from My Mind Eye's - my favorite Hoiday papers this year! The ribbon and pearls are embellished to complete the card. Other than that, it's very simply put together ;)

Stamps: Birdie Wishes (TSG)
Paper: riding hood red, certainly celery, soft sky (SU), designer paper (MME), white cardstock (GP)
Ink: chocolate chip, riding hood red, soft sky, summer sun, real red SU marker (SU), Memento bamboo leaves (Tsukineko)
Accessories: ribbon, pearls

Tools: Nestabilities

Thank you for stopping by. See you Monday for Kitchen Sink Crew challenge {hugs}
