TSG52, CC268 -- In a Garden of Friends

Hello again~
It's a second post in a day :):) While I was waiting the new stamps from There She Goes, I played There She Goes challenge 52 (TSG52) - Mercy's rockin' sketch! This wonderful color combo is from SCS Color Combination challenge 268 (CC268).

I colored the beautiful image from TSG Garden of Friends with Copic markers. The flower part was layered with dimensional adhesives to extend the image outside the circle mat. I messed up embossing the white background :p It's probably not noticeable if I didn't mention it, but I just wanted to let you know that the space between the embossing on the bottom was created by accident, lol.

Stamps: Garden of Friends (TSG)
Paper: classic white (Flourishes), barely banana, ballet blue (SU), glitter DP (MME)
Ink: Memento tuxedo black (Tsukineko), old olive (SU), Copic markers
Accessories: ribbon, dew drops
Tools: Label 3 and classic circle Nestabilities, CB embossing folder, word window punch

FTTC64 -- Karen's Vintage Challenge

It is time for Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge (FTTC64)! It is the end of the month so we have a challenge hostess! This week Karen Wallace is our host! Karen is challenging us to vintage styled cards! Everyone sort of has in their own minds what vintage means to them, so without giving you any direction, just create a card that defines a vintage style to you! We would love to see what you create! Also, just wanted to remind everyone that while each FTTC challenge has a weekly winner, we also draw a monthly winner from all of the FTTC for that month. So, if there was a challenge in April you still would like to participate in, there is still a chance to win! You can play as often as you like! Check out FTTC61, FTTC62, and FTTC63! The weekly and monthly winners will be announced next week!

OK, my favorite vintage style is shabby chic. I love the elegant and warmth feel that the shabby chic brings to my heart. So, I'm trying to achieve that look using the beautiful new set, Spring Bouquet. I stamped the image on the classic ivory mat with Memento rich cocoa and colored with Prismacolor pencils and gamsol (Gamsol magic technique). I love this coloring method when I want to achieve for the softer look. I also water colored for shading with Twinkling H2Os chestnut brown. The edge of the mat and pastel blue layer were distressed with distressing tool and sponged with inks. They were also machine stitched. Next, I attached the vintage photo corners, that were dry embossed with Cuttle Bug embossing folder and DTPed (colored directly with ink pad) before attaching. The pearls were embellished on the vintage corners.

Now, check out what the rest of FOF have created for the challenge!!

Stamps: Spring Bouquet (Flourishes)
Paper: classic ivory (Flourishes), cool caribbean (SU)
Ink: Memento rich cocoa, desert sand, VersaMagic gingerbread (Tsukineko), Prismacolor pencils, Twinkling H2Os chestnut brown
Accessories: pearls, thread
Tools: CB vintage die, embossing folder, distressing tool, sewing machine

Hello and happy Kitchen Sink Monday everyone~
I hope you had a wonderful weekend. My son, Trey turned 9 yrs old on 23rd and we had a birthday/sleep over party on the weekend...he and his friends had a fun time and they were up until 5 am!! They woke up about 8 am that same morning and nobody was tired...great to be young, isn't it? My DH and I were the only ones who were exhausted that day, lol.

So, today's card is actually for me more than anybody else! I used Multi Step Kittens & Pup set for the puppy image and the words. I also used Plaid Plus! set for the heart borders. After the puppy was stamped, I masked it over with the masking that was created with Step 1 puppy stamp and sponged the shadow using the punched-out-oval as a template.

These are the steps I did for each image (all inks are Memento unless mentioned):
(puppy) 3rd - SU close to cocoa, 1st - desert sand, 2nd - SU close to cocoa (1 x stamp off), 4th - SU chocolate chip

FTTC63 -- Cindy's Sketch

Hello and happy Tuesday, everyone~

It is time for Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge (FTTC63)! This week Cindy Haffner is hosting. She is challenging us to a sketch she has designed. As far as sketches go, there is not much of an explanation necessary. You can turn it and modify the shapes to fit your size card, but in the end, it should still look like the sketch. Good Luck!!! We cannot wait to see what you do with it!

To express my happiness that my plants and fruit trees are growing wonderfully in my garden, I decided to use this pretty image from From the Garden set :):) The image was stamped on the classic white mat and colored with Copic markers and Prismacolor pencils for the shadow. Then the circle mat was sponged with Memento rhubarb stalk. I machine stitched each olive green mat. The card was embellished with scallop edge ribbon with the vintage button and rhinestones.

Now, check out what the rest of FOF have created for the challenge!!

Stamps: From the Garden (Flourishes)
Paper: classic white (Flourishes), dark chocolate (PTI), tangerine tango (SU), desginer paper (Basic Grey)

I love the set but I don't think I've inked as much as I wanted to....so thank you, Julie for giving the opportunity :)

Mojo134 & CTD88

Hello everyone~
It's been such beautiful days here in Texas. My kids started to swim in a pool a couple days ago...it's still too cold for me but they don't care, lol.

I made today's card with Mojo Monday sketch 134 (MOJO134) and Color Throwdown challenge 88 (CTD88) - tangerine tango, basic gray, so saffron/white. I've had Because of You set from Verve Stamps for a while and finally got to ink them :p

Speaking of the set, my daughter just started a card making blog with her cousin and their latest card was used. Will you check it out? Here is their blog: H and K Creations. They can get together only few times a month so it won't be updated often but if they know people are checking their blog, they will be so excited and make more cards ;)

OK, back to my card...I knew the retired SU designer papers would work for the sketch and the color combo!! The paper flowers were also made with the same papers and scallop circle punch.

Stamps: Because of You (Verve Stamps)
Paper: basic gray, so saffron, Haiku dp (SU), classic white (Flourishes)
Ink: basic gray, tangerine tango, so saffron (SU)

FTTC62 -- Shake Things Up!!

Hello everyone~
It is time for Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge(FTTC62)! This week Dee Jackson is our challenge host! Dee is shaking things up a bit! Or, better yet, she is challenging us to shake things up! We are making shaker cards. Now, you can have a big shake or a little shake. You decide if your shaker is the focal point or the accent! We would love to see what you create! So, go get busy and "shake it" with us this week! Here is a wonderful shaker card tutorial at SCS by Beate Johns to get you going!

I don't even remember when I made the shaker card for the last time...but I remember I used beads for the shakers, so I again used the beads and created this birthday shaker card. I used the beautiful set, Let Them Eat Cakes for the birthday cake and Sweet Violet set for the greeting. The frame for the shaker box was created with Label 11 Netabilities and classic rectangle Nestabilities. Then I dry embossed the frame with CB embossing folder. To finish, I embellished the card with pearls and polka dot satin ribbon.

I used the color combination from the Embellish Magazine color challenge (red, black, white and kraft). The challenge also requires to create a project that includes party-themed projects. So, in addition with the card, I decorated the candle...candles are "Must-Have" items for any parties, don't you think? Or they are also wonderful gifts to give or receive ;)

Now, check out what the rest of FOF have created for the challenge!!

Stamps: Let Them Eat Cakes, Sweet Violet (Flourishes)
Paper: classic white (Flourishes), kraft, designer paper (PTI), black cardstock, acetate sheets
Ink: Memento tuxedo black (Tsukineko), riding hood red (SU)
Accessories: ribbon, pearls, beads
Tools: Label 11 and classic rectangle Nestabilities, CB embossing folder, border punch

KS Monday -- Apr 12th, 2010

Hello and happy Kitchen Sink Monday, everyone~
I hope you had a wonderful spring weekend. We had the beautiful weather here and enjoyed the warm sunshine...almost too warm, lol.

For today's KS Monday, I created one of my favorite spring flowers...cherry blossoms using Multi Step Trees set. For some of you who are not familiar with Japan, there is no spring in Japan until you see the cherry blossoms. My card isn't even close to the beauty of real ones but I still enjoy making it ;)
The tree was simply stamped step by step. Then I sponged the grass and sky. The stamped word is from Vintage Words set.
I want to mention about the decorative frame. It was created with Fleur De Lis Pendants....The original size was too small for the the main mat. So, I cut it in quarters and added the Fleur De Lis motifs between the quarter pieces. Some pearls are actually used to hide the places where the parts were connected.

This card is combined with the challenge from Our Creative Corner (OCCC) -- Incorporate a bow on a card/project.

These are the steps I did for each image (all inks are Memento unless mentioned):
(blossoms) 1st - angel pink, 2nd - angel pink, 3rd - rose bud
(tree bark) 1st - rich cocoa, 2nd rich cocoa

FLLCAPR10, StampinB -- Missing You

Hello everyone~
It's actually in the middle of night here but I decided to stay awake and post this card before going to bed :)
Flourishes April Release is coming soon and they've challenged us to create a card/project with twinches (2"by 2" segment) as the focal point (FLLCAPR10).

I picked Birds in Vines set to create the twinches mat. The decorated corners were created with Fleur De Lis Pendants die. The bird images were simply attached with dimensional adhesives. To embellish the card, I used the paper flowers from Prima and the satin ribbon. I'm so proud of me using those Prima flowers instead of hoarding, lol. The white background mat was dry embossed with CB embossing folder.

This card is also combined with Stamp B's challenge #53 (StampB) - using the color combo of turquoise, green and white.

Stamps: Birds in Vines, Taglines (Flourishes)
Paper: tempting turquoise (SU), classic whtie (Flourishes)
Ink:
Memento tuxedo black (Tsukineko), tempting turquoise (SU), Copic markers
Accessaries: ribbon, Prima flowers

Hello everyone~
I hope you had a wonderful Easter weekend. My family and I did a great one except my throat were still suffering from the allergy/cold...that's the reason I was not here for the most of last week ...this cold definitely took my Mojo away somewhere :( I hope the new week will bring more creative juice into me.

The inside of the card was also designed with the same stamp sets.
