Here is my card.

 

I used the gorgeous stamp set, Dream Big from Verve Stamps. The flower and leaves were stamped on the KaiserCraft designer paper (Lilian - English Rose Collection), that was cut out with SB big scallop oval Nestabilities. The one flower and two leaves were stamped, trimmed and adhered on the scallop oval mat. The brown layer and the sentiment panel were cut with SB label 14. The card was designed with the cardstock and the same designer paper. To finish off, I embellished with the satin ribbon with pearl brad and the pearls.

KS Monday–For June Wedding

 

 

Hello and happy Kitchen Sink Monday everyone~

Boy, it’s soooo hot here! I just want to melt…. The best way to spend those hot days, just stamp and create, lol! So I did :)

 

I noticed that I’ve made a couple Father’s Day cards for some challenges but not any cards/projects for the most popular event of June…Wedding! There were a few challenges I wanted to participated and I really liked how it turned out!

 

I used Multi Step Wedding Rings for the wedding rings and sentiment. The ring image was stamped with the following steps: 4th – Memento tuxedo black (1 x stamp off), 3rd – Memento london fog, 2nd – london fog (1 x stamp off), 1st – Memento desert sand (1 x stamp off). I also used Copic markers for the shadow.

Here is my card.

 

I used this adorable image, Ballerina Pig (909-G) and the saying from Quartet Complements Series (8600). The image was stamped and colored with Copic markers. I stamped the saying on the kraft mat repeatedly. I love I can make an instant DP with one stamp with no time :) The white BG was embossed with embossing folder and sponged with ink and blending tool. Then the rest of element are attached as following by the sketch. To finish off, I embellished with the ribbon and Prima tea rose.

RI WIW Sketch Challenge

 

 

 

Happy Hump day everyone~

I have a lot of things to do this week but I just cannot motivated… my To-Do list is not cleared as quickly as I’ve planned :P At least I don’t lose my MOJO (yet!) and hopefully I can go back to my stamp room for a few hours for the next couple days!

Here is my card for the challenge.

 

 

I made this card with one of my favorites (I have too many favorites, lol) stamps, “Sunflower (4313-K) ” and “Someone Special (1107-F) ” for the saying. I used Our Creative Corner Challenge for the colors – *analogous color scheme*.   As you see I rotated the sketch for the card. The image was colored with Copic markers as usual and sponged the mat with dye ink. The top border and the top of the bottom border was used border punch. The secret to make a decorative border like the top one is to start with 1” strip and start punching at the center of the strip. Of course you probably already knew that ;) I just found out while watching the HSN scrapbooking show the other day!

To finish off the card, I also did the paper piercing above the saying and embellished with rhinestones and organdy ribbon bow.

MTSC77 & Our Creative Corner – Summer Inspiration

 

Hello everyone~

I’m trying to catching up with the challenge I’ve wanted to try  this week…

I made this sunflower card with the sketch from Mercy’s Tuesday Sketch Challenge (MTSC77) . It was also combined with the latest Our Creative Corner Challenge (OCCC) – Summer Inspiration.

 

When I think about Summer, Sunflowers are always in my list :) They are a wonderful summer inspiration to work with for sure! I also picked the green & blue for the color combo, and great summer-ish greeting :):)

I stamped the image from Flourishes Wreaths of All Seasons set and colored with Copic markers. I decorated the layout with Webster Pages designer papers (I “HEART” them!) and stamped the greeting “hello sunshine” by Verve Stamps.

FTTC68 – Handmade Flowers

 

Hello eveyone~

It is time for Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge(FTTC68) !  It is the end of the month so we have us a challenge host!  This month's challenge host is Velta Wesson.  Velta is challenging us to "make our own flowers"!  I know you have seen all of these wonderful dimensional homemade flowers being used everywhere.  Now is your chance to make your very own and sport them on your cards, too!   They look quite amazing, but they really are not that hard to do!  You can use any thing from paper to lace to create your flowers.  However, if you would like to see a few tutorials from SCS on paper roses, rolled flowers, or tissue flowers, just check out the links.  Also, Dawn Burnworth, has also done a tutorial on ribbon flowers here.   Whichever form of flower you choose to create, we would love to have you play along with us!  Remember to link your card with the Link system at the Flourishes blog for you chance to win a $10 store gift certificate.  Also, check out the blog for more ways to win!

 

 

My card was created with the beautiful set, Cherry Blossoms and the BG Kioshi designer papers. I cut the scalloped oval shape with big scallop oval Nestabilities from Spellbinders and stamped the sentiment and the small cherry blossoms image. Then it was sponged with the moss green ink and embellished with the brown pearls. I also machine stitched some of the mats.

About my handmade flower…. I hope you like it because I had so much fun to make it :) It’s called Tsumami Kanzashi Flower and Tsumami Kanzashi flowers are made for the traditional Japanese hair ornaments. There are a few Tsumami Kanzashi books in Japan but the shipping costs are just too expensive for me unfortunately :( Luckily I found the book “Kanzashi in Bloom” by Diane Gilleland with easier and more friendly version of Tsumami Kanzashi flowers so that every day crafters like me can enjoy making for modern projects.

The flower I made for the card was used the leftover cotton fabric and I cut five 2 1/2” x 2 1/2” squares, folded each square with simple origami folding (it’s a quite simple), assembled with sewing thread. After the flower was shaped the way I wanted, I attached the small circle cardstock and Prima leave on the back and the button on the front.

 

HERE is Kanzashi flower tutorial video by Diane. The folding she shows is not the same one I did for the card but it’s another beautiful flower for you to try.

Atelier Kanawa also shows how she makes Tsumami Kanzashi….Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3 if you are interested. She uses a traditional way and takes a lot of time to create her gorgeous projects…She also sells her beautiful projects in her Etsy store, Atelier Kanawa

There are also some Kanzashi tutorials out there if you like to dig in more….you can just google with “ Kanzashi Tutorials”.

MTSC74, ACT30 and OCCC

 

 

 

Well, how about a card for a guy?? I hate to admit but I don’t make enough for guys who are in my life… but I know they love receiving a card or two from time to time like us :)

This week’s Our Creative Corner challenge (OCCC) was a perfect timing for me to create a masculine birthday card…I will definitely give this card to my special man for his next birthday!!

 

 

 

 

The card is also submitted to Mercy’s Tuesday Sketch challenge 74 (MTSC74) and Curtain Call Color Challenge (ACT30). The pale pink was included to the combo and it was fun to use it as a accent color for the masculine theme, lol! Why not, right?

The motorcycle image from SU! was colored with Copic markers. Not too much to mention as far as about the technique….I punched the 2 corners of the kraft mat with the same border punch I used for the pale pink piece. I killed two birds with one stone, lol.

KS Monday -- Apr 12th, 2010

Hello and happy Kitchen Sink Monday, everyone~
I hope you had a wonderful spring weekend. We had the beautiful weather here and enjoyed the warm sunshine...almost too warm, lol.

For today's KS Monday, I created one of my favorite spring flowers...cherry blossoms using Multi Step Trees set. For some of you who are not familiar with Japan, there is no spring in Japan until you see the cherry blossoms. My card isn't even close to the beauty of real ones but I still enjoy making it ;)
The tree was simply stamped step by step. Then I sponged the grass and sky. The stamped word is from Vintage Words set.
I want to mention about the decorative frame. It was created with Fleur De Lis Pendants....The original size was too small for the the main mat. So, I cut it in quarters and added the Fleur De Lis motifs between the quarter pieces. Some pearls are actually used to hide the places where the parts were connected.

This card is combined with the challenge from Our Creative Corner (OCCC) -- Incorporate a bow on a card/project.

FTTC58 -- Sketch Challenge by Silke

Happy Tuesday everyone~
It is time for Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge(FTTC58) ! This week Silke Ledlow is our challenge host! Silke has designed a sketch for us to try. Actually, Silke designed two sketches. Are you are feeling the round or the square? You could be feeling a bit of both and play twice! As far as sketches go, you can turn them increase or decrease the sizes a bit, but in the end, it should still look like the sketch. We would love to see what you create with us this week!



My card was used Sketch 2 and I used the newest release set, Easter Baskets set. I love making Easter cards - they are usually used springy colors that make me happy & smile :) Speaking of the spring colors, I used the color combo from Our Creative Corner challenge ...hosted by Silke!
Each image was colored with Copic markers and adhered where the star was on the sketch. I used the flower Nestabilities for the one of the circle layers. The corners on the designer paper was punched with decorative corner punch and I adhered the matching punched border on the top of the card. The ribbon and pearls are attached to complete the card.

I used basic masking technique for the card above. I love this technique because it gives the depth without layers!! I used this beautiful new set, Multi Step Lilacs and masked a couple lilac images. The step 1 images work wonderfully to create the masks. The word "Welcome" is from the set, Other Important People. The card was simply decorated so that the stamped background could be seen.

These are the steps I did for each image (all inks are Memento unless mentioned:
(lilacs) 1st - angel pink, 2nd - lulu lavender, 3rd - SU lavender lace, 4th - grape jelly

(leaves) - 1st - pear tart, 2nd - bamboo leaves, 3rd - cottage ivy

Here is another one, using basic masking technique. The card was used another new set, Multi Step Little Lambs. This set is absolutely cute!! It includes 2 lambs with different size! For the challenge, I stamped the smaller lamb first then masked it, and stamped the larger lamb. I also masked the main mat and sponged the bottom part to create the ground. I used this sketch from Our Creative Corner Challenge.

IC215, OCC Challenge

Hello everyone~
I hope my friends from U.S are having a wonderful MLK's birthday weekend and the rest of you are spending a wonderful weekend as well.
My hubby just left for work and he won't be back about a month :( It's our life and sometimes we have to suck it up and make a living for our best (these thoughts came from the experiences being Military wife), but being apart is not always easy for my family. This time, he is going to miss Kimberly's birthday, Trey's basketball games, Boy Scouts Darby race, Cheer competitions, Valentine's Day...:( Maybe, I need to clean my house to get rid of the negative mood ;)

OK, changing subjects...I made this card for SCS Inspiration challenge 215 (IC215) last night.
Nell Hill's carries beautiful things and I really want to shop for my house :) I took my inspiration from the hydrangea picture here. I also threw Our Creative Challenge (OCCC) - Color Challenge of blue and green into the card :) You really need to check out the samples of OCC team. They are so creative!

I used Garden of Friends from There She Goes. The images were colored with Copics. I also stamped the flourish images on the bashful blue DP using Flourish mini set.

FTTC32 & OCCC -- Peaceful Full Moon

Hello everyone~
It's still hot in Texas but it's definitely cooling down in nights. It's so nice to feel the cool air :) I also love to watching the moon this time of the year because it's so big and feel like I can touch it!

When I saw the sketch from Flourishes Timeless Tuesday 32 (FTTC32), the only I could think was the full moon in September, lol. So, here is my take on the sketch!
I used Summer Blossoms from Flourishes to create the main mat and Waterlilies for the sentiment.

Since I used some autumn colors for the card, I also entered to Our Creative Corner challenge (OCCC).

The little Japanese character on the bottom corner of the main mat is the character of my name "MA" (my first name is made with 3 charactors - "MA", "KI", and "KO"), and the letter means "truth".



皆さん、こんにちは～ まだまだ、残暑が残るテキサスですが、夜はだんだんと涼しくなってきました。お月見が楽しい時期でもありますね。

今回のカードは、FlourishesのTimeless Tuesday チャレンジ32 (FTTC32)のスケッチを使ったんですが、スケッチの円が、どうしても丸いお月様に見えてしまって。。。（笑）結局、第一印象で感じたままに作ってみました。スタンプは、FlourishesからのSummer Blossomsをメインに使い、言葉は、Waterliliesからのを使っています。

秋色を使ったので、久々にOur Creative Cornerのチャレンジ（OCCC)にもエントリーしました。

メインの角に捺した字は、私の名前の頭文字です。お友達からのプレゼントで頂きました。

FTTC26 & OCCC

I hope your weekend will be wonderful! I'm going to be busy with a couple projects that need to be done this weekend besides card making :) Sure it would be so nice being in the place like this card...;)

This card was used the sketch from Our Creative Corner challenge (OCCC) and combined with Flourishes Timeless Tuesday challenge 26 (FTTC26) - use monochromatic colors.

良い週末が過ごせますように。。。私は、カードメイキングの他に、いくつかしなければいけないプロジェクトがあるので、忙しい週末になりそうです。このカードの様な場所で過ごせたらなぁ。。。（笑）

このカードは、Our Creative Cornerチャレンジ（OCCC）のスケッチを使い、Flourishes Timeless Tuesdayチャレンジ26（FTTC26）－モノクロマティックカラーを使ったチャレンジも組み合わせました。
｛ところでカードとは関係ありませんが、Flourishesオープン2周年おめでとうございます!!｝


I love using monochromatic with my cards. This challenge is up to my alley!! I grabbed Beach Life from Flourishes and some subtle blue colors and white to create the card. The main image was stamped with VersaMark on the white cardstock and heat embossed with clear embossing powder. Then I used a brayer and inked pale blue on the mat. I also edged & sponged around the image with the darker shade of blue and added river rock color on the edge.

モノクロマティックをカードに使うのは、とても好きなので、今回は頭を捻ることもなく作ることができました。FlourishesのBeach Lifeセットをメインに使い、淡い青系と白を使ってみました。メインのイメージは、ヴァーサマークで白のカードストックにスタンプをし、クリアエンボスパウダーでヒートエンボスしました。その後、ブレイヤーを使って、パネル全体に淡い青色を伸ばし、濃いトーンの青を隅とイメージの周りに暈し、リバーロック色（緑がかった灰色）を隅に少しだけ暈しています。

IC188, Mojo94 & OCCC

Hello everyone~
I was a little tired with running errands and cleaning pool earlier, so I decided to making a card with combining the challenges to save a time.
This card was combined SCS Inspiration challenge 188 (IC188), Mojo Monday sketch 94 (mojo94) and Our Creative Corner challenge (OCCC).

IC188 is to use inspirations from Chasing Fireflies website and I chose my inspiration from the shirt below. It's happened to be the perfect one for OCC challenge too, which is to make a card or project using pets as a focus.

Hello everyone~
I was very busy with 5 kids in a house today....I finally got a little time to make a card for SCS Color Combination challenge 225 (CC225) and Our Creative Corner challenge (OCCC) to save a time.
The color combo is something I never come up with but I really love it, especially these pansies!! I used 3 step Pansies from Kitchen Sink Stamps and used masking technique to stamp each images.
The sentiment is from KSS Other Important People and was added to the sketch.
