FTTC86 – Harvest Home!

SONY DSC

Hello everyone~

It is time for Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge(FTTC86)! It is the end of the month so we have a challenge host! This month's host is Debbie Marcinkiewicz! Debbie is challenging us create a card, project or gift set with a fall/harvest theme using green, brown, orange/russet, and cream! We would love to see what you create!

Fall finally came to Texas yesterday!! Unfortunately I don’t think we can see the beautiful fall leaves since we didn’t have enough rain this year…:( So, I decided to create this CAS fall card using Cottage Home set just thinking about the gorgeous Upstate NY fall scene where my MIL is from :):) (You cannot even compare the real one with my quickly colored image though…) The image was colored with Copic makers. When I colored the grass ground, I lightly dotted the markers instead of stroking them. I used the greeting from Falling Leaves set. To finish off, I embellished with the lace trim and rhinestones.

This card is also submitted to Clean & Simple Stamping (FTL109).

Be sure to check out other FOF’s creations!

I also used the sketch from SCS Sketch Challenge 299 (SC299).

With this challenge, I combined the sketch from SCS Sketch challenge 298 (SC298).

FTTC84 – Spotlight Technique

SONY DSC

Hello everyone~

It is time for Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge(FTTC84)!! This week Barbara Anders is hosting. Barbara is challenging us to the spotlight technique. Just click HERE to check a spotlight tutorial from SCS. This is a fun technique that often gets overlooked. Give it a try! We would love to see what you create!

SONY DSC  I am the one who overlook this technique. I think I have done it once before but I didn’t know it was called “Spotlight technique”:P  It gives another perspective for the stamped image doesn’t it?

I picked Sunflowers set for spotlighting. I originally planned doing only one spotlight for the image (the one with the ladybug) but I decided to add a couple more spotlights :):) The colored parts were done with Copic markers. I used the decorative border punch for the BG Origins designer paper and suede cardstock and created the scalloped designs. To finish off, it was embellished with rhinestones & cotton ribbon.

For the special pre-release celebration,  your order is going to be FREE shipping when you shop $45.00 or more!! Don’t wait too long because this offer is only good through TODAY, on Monday, September 13th.

These are the sets… you can click to each stamp name to see the detail.

- Multi Step Ivy

- Multi Step Lil' Elephant

- Multi Step Ribbons with a Cause

or you can check “What’s New!” in the KS Store :):)

Check out the “Workshops” section for Houston, TX Workshop detail!! I sure hope you can come and spend a wonderful time with us :):)

I have a card for each of the new sets today :):)

 SONY DSC

The first card was used Multi Step Ivy set. I used the tea rose embellishments and gold pearls to create the focal design but it’s also so fun for mixing and matching with other KSS sets too! The greeting was created with Simple Sentiments.

I used the sketch (FTL107) from Clean & Simple Stamping.

These are the steps I did for each image (all inks are from Memento):
(Ivy) 1st – new sprout , 2nd – bamboo leaves, 3rd – cottage ivy (1 x stamp off), repeat the 3rd step, 4th – cottage ivy

For the background ivy, I used the same ink for each step but stamped off once before stamping. Also no repeat the 3rd step. Can you see the background ivy is more subtle than focal one?

SONY DSC

The next card was created with Multi Step Lil’ Elephant set. Isn’t that elephant beautiful and cute at same time??  I combined SCS Sketch challenge 297 (SC297) and Crazy 4 Challenges (C4C54).

These are the steps I did for each image (all inks are from Memento unless it mentioned):
(Elephant) 2nd – london fog, 3rd – SU basic gray, 4th – tuxedo black, 1st – london fog (1 x stamp off), repeat 1st step

SONY DSC

The last card was used Multi Step Ribbons with a Cause set. I’m soooo excited with the stamps…I have no doubt this set is going to be “Must-Have” set for many stampers & card makers!! You can change the ribbon colors for the different good cause and show your support :)

With the purchase of every Multi Step Ribbons with a Cause set, 15% of the proceeds will be donated to a different noteworthy charity every month. For more information about "Ribbons with a Cause Giving Back" program, please go HERE.

Since the Breast Cancer Awareness month is coming next month, I created the pink ribbon card. I used the sketch from Taylored Expressions Sketch Challenge (TESC127). The words on the background were stamped from the same set and Vintage Words set.

These are the steps I did for each image:
(Ribbon) 1st – SU pink pirouette, 2nd – SU pretty in pink, 3rd – SU regal rose

To save 10% off your total purchase, just click HERE and it will take you straight to the store to shop. When you check out, enter MAKIKO10KSS at the coupon code box. Note - please type a capital "O" at the end of my name and a zero in the number for 10.

Beautiful color combo isn’t it? To be honest though, I had to try very hard with using the colors… I just hardly use “always artichoke” kind of green and had a hard time to decided what stamps I should use… I really like how it was turned out in the end :):)

I used Flourishes From the Garden set and water colored the image with re-inkers.

This card is also submitted to Mojo Monday Sketch 155 (MOJO155) and Flourishes Bring Back Beautiful Challenge (BBB02)…I colored the image with the rustic look.

As you see, I changed it to the square. The light house scenery “Portland Head Light sm (1401-P)” was stamped with VersaMark on the kraft mat and heat embossed with white EP. I sponged the edge to distress the mat. The three square mat was stamped using “Scallop Shell (2418-E)” and the greeting stamp, “Quartet Compliments”. The square mats were embellished with the pearls. The shells were colored with Copic markers. I used hemp twine and linen ribbon for the borders.

FTTC83 – Tickets!

SONY DSC

It is time for Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge(FTTC83)! This week Betty Wright is our host. Betty is challenging us to use tickets on our cards. Now, you can use actual store bought tickets or create your own, or come up with ways to create a ticket look with your focal image, card base, or sentiment. We would love to see what you create!

SONY DSC

I had to use my brain more than usual for the challenge. Tickets are in right now all over the paper craft world but I don’t own any premade, die cuts, or real ones in my stash. So I decided to use the ticket corner punch to create my own ticket for the challenge :):) To create the ticket corner shape for the edge, you can just unhook the corner punch base ;)  I used one of the newest sets, Kids Play for the ticket piece. I stamped the images with VersaMark & Memento tuxedo black and heat embossed with clear EP. Then I sponged the background with daubers. The background was dry embossed with embossing folder and the card was embellished with the pearls and Fancy Tags die.

This card is also submitted to Flourishes Look Who’s 3 Challenge (FLLCSEP10). The Flourishes is celebrating belated 3rd birthday this month and there are three ways to win fabulous prizes! So, be sure to find out how to play those challenges while you are visiting at Flourishes Blog.

Happy Sunday everyone~ I’m so happy to announce that I’m a new member of Stacey’s Curtain Call Color Challenge Crew!! What a wonderful way to start a new week! I hope you will enjoy my Sunday post with Curtain Call for the next few months :):)

To kick off the new color combo with new DT, Stacey has posted this beautiful inspiration {ACT46} above for you to play. Please visit Stacey’s Stamping Stage for more detail about the challenge.

Here is my take…

I must say…I didn’t play outside of the box at all… you can see I used the inspiration very seriously, lol. I stamped the poppies image from TSG Poppies (gorgoues set!) and colored with Copic markers. Some of the flowers were layered so that they could extend from the circle mat.

I tried to match the border design and the circle frame and used the Basic Gray designer papers for the background. I embellished the card with the red/white baker’s twine and pearls to finish off.

The Curtain Call Crew has samples to show you today, too, so make sure you stop by to see:

CardMaps from PageMaps!!

Happy September 1st everyone~

Every quarter, Becky Fleck of PageMaps dishes out 10 fabulous sketches to get those creative juices flowing with her CardMaps. Well, this month some of the lovely ladies from Flourishes did the honors and took her sketches to bring CardMaps to life with beautiful and creative samples for each and every sketch. To check out CardMaps for September, click here (www.pagemaps.com) and then click on the CardMaps link on the left.

Here is my assigned sketch:

Here is my card:

The card size is 5x7 but it works wonderfully for the standard size 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 too. I used Flourishes Berry Sweet set for the berry image and it was colored with Copic markers. The sentiment was created with the mix of Berry Sweet (“BERRY MUCH”) and Sweet Violets (“THANK YOU”). I created 3 pleated flowers for the circles on the sketch. The way I took the photo makes the card look flat but it is very dimensional and I don’t think it’s fit in the standard thin envelop, lol. I definitely use the patted envelope for the card ;)
