CTD103 & RI WIW Sketch Challenge

SONY DSC

Happy Wednesday everyone~

swatch 103

It’s a time for The Color Throwdown challenge. It is also bi-weekly What If? Wednesday Sketch Challenge from Repeat Impressions. So, I made one card for those challenges together. I hope you will have a chance to play both challenges :)

For the CTD colors, Remember, you don’t have to have the exact colors to play along, just use what’s close! Please stop by the Color Throwdown Blog for all the details. This is my last week as a guest DT for The Color Throwdown… thank you so much to the CTD DT for letting me participate this wonderful opportunity for the last one month, especially the CTD100 celebration was super crazy (which is in a good way)!!

j2810

For What If? Wednesday Sketch challenge, Wendy has created another wonderful sketch to play. You will have 2 weeks (until Tuesday, Aug 10th) to enter your card for the challenge over RI blog, “The House that Stamps Built”. All participants will have a chance to win a $25 Repeat Impressions gift certificate!! I can’t wait to see your creation! Please check out RI Blog for the more details.

I used Rebecca (708-K) for the main image and it was colored with Copic markers. The main mat was sponged, the second layer was scored, and the 3rd layer & the background were used the designer papers that matched with the CTD color combo. I used the border punch for the scallop part on the sketch though it didn’t quite show because of the sentiment label I used :P The sentiment is one of NEW Quartet Complements series.

FTTC77 – Emily’s Pins Challenge

Cherries_&_Peaches_4-1_edited

Hello everyone~

It is time for Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge(FTTC77) !  It is the end of the month so we have a challenge host.  This month's host is Emily Keaton.  Emily is challenging us to  use “Pins”!   All kinds of pins will do.  Think stick pins, hat pins, safety pins, straight pins, diaper pins, even mini clothes pins or a brooch-style pin.  We would love to see what you create!

OK…you’re probably thinking where I used PINS. Since the challenge says “All kinds of pins will do”, I used the clothespins :) Plus, it was so fun to use the tiny clothespin for the last week’s FTTC card and I decided to use them again! I used Cherries & Peaches set with the altered box. The images were colored with Copic MarkersPoppy Collection, Tiger Lily Collection and Evergreen Collection.

I bought these lunch tin boxes for a while ago and they are stored in the cabinet for a long time…maybe too long, lol. I decided to bring them back to light after I read the one of Dare To Get Challenge 2010 over SCS. I also submitted to the couple more challenges for today’s project. There are those challenges…

- DTGD10cindy_haffner

- DTDG10melmel

Here is the image for each box. You can click the photo to see the enlarged image.

You can follow this wonderful tutorial by Emily Giovanni to alter the tin box. My printer is out of ink, so I just used the 1 1/4” square & 1” circle punches to cut out the notch part.

I already sold the cherry tin box :):) and my daughter wants to have the peach one… I could just give it to her but I told she has to earn it with her chores and cleaning up her room ;) Mean mommy, lol!

SONY DSC

Hello everyone~

It’s another Stamp of the Week from Repeat Impressions!! This week’s SOTW stamp is this beautiful dragonfly image, “ Damselfly (4402-O) ”. I stamped the damselfly image with Memento rich cocoa and colored the wings with Copic markers. I also repeated the same process with the layered image. Bamboo (5704-L) was stamped on the background mat and I sponged with 3 different inks (blue, orange and green). A part of Live, Laugh, Love (3108-J) was used for the sentiment.

KS Monday – Jul 26th, 2010

SONY DSC

Hello and Happy Monday, everyone~

I hope you had a wonderful weekend… I had a wonderful time at the Scrap Retreats that my SU demo hosted last Saturday. I even did scrapping!! It’s been so long since I made a layout…I made only 4 pages by myself. I also made 6x6 mini album and one 12 x 12 2-page layout with the ladies at the retreats…so it was not too bad :)

SONY DSC

Anyway, for today’s KS Monday, I made the gift card & box set for a baby. I used Multi Step Little Lambs set for the images and sentiments. The felt flowers were from a small Martha Stewart DIY package kit that I found at Wal-Mart…the package was discounted to $1.50 from $8.00!! Can’t miss the deal :):)

ACT39 – Delightful & Delicious

SONY DSC

Hello everyone~

I hope I’m not too late to submit this card to Curtain Call Color Challenge (ACT39).

The colors are remind of me Starbucks Coffee….So, I went that direction :):)  I started to stamp Delightful & Delicious set from Verve Stamps and created each layer.… there are some interruptions (some people call “KIDS” – of course  so it took some time to finish this. The handmade Kanzashi flower was added to complete the card. My mother-in-law is a fantastic quilter and every time she makes quilts, she gets fabric scraps, that are considering as trash. Those scraps are wonderful for making Kanzashi flowers! I keep her trash, make embellishments for my cards, and she uses my cards … I call it “A Circle of Craft Life” , lol!

This card is also submitted to these Dare To Get Dirty ‘10 challenges.

FTTC76 – Barbara’s Inspiration

SONY DSC

Hello everyone~

inspiration_2010jul20

It is time for Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge (FTTC76) !  This week Barbara Anders is the host.  Barbara is challenging us to an  Inspiration Challenge! Barbara has chosen one gorgeous picture (on the right) to get inspired by for our card making.  You can obviously recreate the look or be inspired by the colors or other elements in the photo.   We would love to see what you create!

Beautiful inspiration, isn’t it? I used the popular stamp set, Gerber Daisies set. The image was stamped with Memento rich cocoa on the classic white mat and colored with Copic markers. I also water colored with Twinkling H2Os chestnut brown for shading. The mat was sponged with Memento new sprout. The idea of the name plate with the clothespin was cased from the inspiration picture. The plate was also embellished with the pearls. The designer paper from Webster Pages was used for the background. To complete the card, I embellished with the satin ribbon.

Well, as you know, the show must go on and I hope you are ready to play another beautiful color combo (CTD101- check out the swatch on the right). Please stop by the Color Throwdown Blog for all the details.

My card for the last challenge was a kind of bright and a lot of layers….so I decided to use this color combo with more simple and cleaner style :) The fern images were stamped on the watercolor paper and the paper was water colored with re-inkers. After the ink was completely dried, I off-stamped the images again for the shadows. The paper piercing was done on the stamped mat and the kraft layer. The cotton silk ribbon was pleated when it was attached and I embellished the pearls to complete the card.

You can purchase the same stamps, watercolor paper, cotton silk ribbon and pearls at Flourishes LLC.

FTTC75 – Felt

SONY DSC

Hello everyone~

It is time for Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge(FTTC75)! This week Betty Wright is our challenge host. Betty is challenging us to use felt! Felt is everywhere right now in the crafting world. It is easier to use than ever with all of the wonderful die cuts available. You can create flowers, borders, accents, and so much more! We would love to see what you create using felt!

BTW, I forgot to mention last week about Flourishes 12 Days of Christmas sale in July!!  All Flourishes Christmas stamps are on sale for 25% off until Sunday, Jul 18th.! Time to stock up now! ….Sorry for the belated notice :P

SONY DSCI love the look of felt..they give a great texture and fun look for projects! For today’s challenge, I used the swirl felt border. They are so easy to use for both card making & scrapbooking, and available different designs and colors. You can check out other designs HERE. The palm tree image is from Beach Life set and the greeting “A Happy Hello” is from Tag Lines. After I stamped the image with Memento tuxedo black on the classic white mat, I colored with Copic Markers. Then, I colored the background with Memento ink using sponge daubers. The ocean line was masked with the sticky paper when it was sponged. For the embellishments, I used the cotton satin ribbon and dew drops.

FTTC74 – Christmas in July

SONY DSC

Happy Tuesday everyone~

It is time for Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge (FTTC74) !  This week’s challenge host is me and  I am getting you all in gear with a theme challenge.  We are celebrating Christmas in July!  No explanation necessary for this theme.  Just have fun and make something festive! While Flourishes stamps are not required, if you have them, by all means use them!   We would love to see what you create.

I may also mention to you all that ......Stacy hosts a Flourishes Christmas Spirit Challenge at SCS monthly. If you would like to combine this challenge with that one to draw some attention to both that would be great. Here is the link. This month is about Christmas song lyrics or song titles. Use that keyword code (FLLCNOEL3) when loading to SCS and link back to the SCS thread. This is not required..... just a suggestion if you want to combine it.

My card for today was used Winter Bouquet set for the entire image and sentiment. I colored the bouquet image with Copic markers on the classic white mat, that was cut out with label 3 Nestabilities. I used Basic Grey Eskimo Kisses for the designer paper in the middle. I stamped the berry image on the moss green layer to create the borders.  I attached the pearls after I stamped the sentiment on the light pink mat. Then, the light pink satin ribbon was attached to complete the card.

Be sure to check out other FOF’s Christmas in July creations!

Hello and happy Kitchen Sink Monday, everyone~

I’m still in Mississippi right now but I’m driving home this afternoon. Hope you had a great weekend.

Although we are taking a summer break for Kitchen Sink Crew Challenge, that doesn’t mean we stop cookin’ with KS Stamps!!

SONY DSC

For today’s card, I used Multi Step Sunflowers :):) Just perfect for this time of the year, don’t you think? Sunflowers are definitely my favorite summer flower! I paper pierced for the water streak so that the water can looked like it was watering the flowers. The word “Thanks” was used from Other Important People. After I stamped and placed all images in place, I draw the line inside the edge with a multi liner pen (0.05) and a ruler. To finish the card, I put the ribbon and button with vintage twine.

This card was also used the color combo from SCS Color Combination challenge 275 (CC275).

These are the steps I did for each image:
(Sunflowers) 1st – SU barely banana, 2nd – SU so saffron, 3rd – SU pumpkin pie, 4th – Memento rich cocoa, 5th – Memento tuxedo black

(leaves) 1st – SU mellow moss, 2nd – SU always artichoke (1 x stamp off), 3rd – always artichoke

(water can) 1st – SU regal rose (1 x stamp off), 2nd – regal rose, 3rd – SU real red (1 x stamp off), 4th – real red

SONY DSC

Hello and happy Friday!!

It’s going to be a quick post because I’m heading out to Mississippi where Troy is working tomorrow morning and I need to pack!! He will come home one day next week, but my kids and I miss him so much….so, we decided to drive up there and spend a holiday weekend with him. Plus, his RV (he is one of those guys who lives in RV while he is at job sites so that he can save money….more stamping supplies for me, lol) is parking at Yogi Bear’s Camp Resorts, so my kids are going to have a lot of fun for sure :):)

This card was submitted to Crazy 4 Challenges 43 (C4C43) – sketch challenge and Curtain Call Color Challenge (ACT36). The color combo was wonderful for the 4th of July theme and I wanted to use for something fun! The image and sentiment (I love it!!) are both from Unity Stamps and colored with Copic markers.

Stamps: Ferris wheel, sentiment - KOM set (Unity Stamp Co.)
Paper: classic white (Flourishes), night of navy, real red, real red dp (SU), kraft, snow white (PTI)
Ink: Memento tuxedo black (Tsukineko) Copic markers
Accessories: twine, button

Tools: photo corner punch, word window punch

Thank you for stopping by. Have a wonderful and safe weekend!! Come back here for Monday to see the Kitchen Sink Monday post :)
