RI SOTW – Live, Laugh, Love

SONY DSC

Hello everyone~

It’s another Repeat Impression Stamp of The Week day!! This week’s featured stamp is “Live, Laugh, Love (3108-J)”. I found that it is a wonderful stamp to use for many occations and events. I also love to use it for backgrounds! Of course it’s always great as a focal point ;)

This stamp is available exclusively to our blog readers at 50% OFF from May 17 – May 23, 2010. If you would like to purchase this stamp please visit RI blog, House that Builds Stamps to find out the detail how to get the discount and a special discount code PLEASE NOTE: The discount WILL NOT appear when you place your order. Once your order is ready to be shipped WE WILL apply the discount and process your credit card at that time. I will also send you a follow-up email to let you know your final adjusted total.

The first card is for Graduation obviously, lol. I made for someone special in my life… The ring bearer of my wedding just graduated high school last week… our flower girl had a baby last year and now, my ring bearer graduated high school….boy, do I feel old or what?! LOL!

SONY DSC

I stamped Live, Laugh, Love for the background mat using pale blue ink (I masked the edge of the mat so that the image was placed inside of the embossed lines. The number “2010” was cut out with Cricut machine and the same image was stamped with black ink. The sentiment is the one from NEW Quartet Complements Series.

The next card was created with Dragonfly (102-F) and Daisy (2625-C). The daisies were colored with white gel pen and attached pearls. I used border punch on the top of the green mat. The dragonflies were colored with Copic markers and added Stickles on the wings. Live, Laugh, Love stamp was stamped with Brilliance peacock ink…it’s very pretty gradation in real life :) and the same pearls I used for daisies and the ribbons were used for the embellishments.

KS Monday – May 17th, 2010

SONY DSC

Hello and happy Monday again, everyone~

I’ve been MIA since last Wednesday…I hope you are doing OK. I needed to spend a time with my family and some errands for a while but I never stopped stamping ;)

It’s getting so close to the end of school year and I wanted to make some “Thank You” cards to my kids’ teacher. I’ve made only one that was shown above so far :p but I think I make a few more for their teachers.

SONY DSC

I made a pocket card and designed with 3 Step School Days and Plaid Plus!. The one of the border designs from Plaid plus! was stamped on horizontally and then I stamped the word & number, “ABC, 123” repeatedly using the lines as a guide. To create the pocket, I used Scor-Tape (1/8” wide) to close the two sides. The tapes are available at KSS store!

This card is entered to this week’s Crazy 4 Challenges (C4C37) - create a card/project that has some form of pocket.

These are the steps I did for each image (all inks are Memento):
(Apple) 1st – lady bug (1 x stamp off), 2nd – lady bug, 3rd – rhubarb stalk (1 x stamp off), 4th – rhubarb stalk

(Leave) 1st – bamboo leaves, 2nd – cottage ivy

(ruler) 1st – desert sand (1 x stamp off), 2nd – desert sand, 3rd – rich cocoa

      FTTC66 – Picture It!

      SONY DSC

      Hello everyone~

It is time for Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge(FTTC66)!  This week Maki Jones (yes, it’s me!) is our challenge host! She is challenging us to "picture it!"   Now, a photo card is one way of looking at the challenge; however, you can venture off into other avenues as well.  Think magazine pictures, real image designer papers, or take a picture of some of your favorite things and print it out!  The photo does not have to be the focal point of the card, either.  Think layered flowers, borders, tags, etc!  There are also many photo techniques that can be used from altered photos, vellum pictures,  and  faux cloisonné.  Whichever photo option you take, we would love to see what you create with the "picture it" challenge!

      SONY DSC

For the challenge, I decided to use my photo image papers I purchased for a long time ago when I was still an avid scrapbooker :p I’m glad those papers could still be used again instead of being tucked in the shelf.  I used the real daisy image paper for the background. Instead of coloring the basket from Easter Basket set, I paper pieced with the real bark image paper. The same bark image paper was also attached inside of the card. The main mat was created with Spellbinders classic scallop circle and label 3 Nestabilities. I stamped the daisy image from Gerber Daisies for three times on the classic white cardstock and colored them with Copic markers. Then they were trimmed to fit inside of the basket. I attached the bow on the basket handle and pearls on the punched corners and the sentiment mat.

Now, check out what the rest of FOF have created for the challenge!!

      KS Monday – May 10th 2010

      SONY DSC

Hello and happy Kitchen Sink Monday everyone~

I hope you had a fabulous Mother’s day Sunday! My kids made strawberry cupcakes for me :):) They were so yummy and absolutely cute!! I attach the photo on the bottom if you want to check out :)

Today is my brother’s birthday! I haven’t celebrated his birthday together for over 15 years…Sometimes I wish I just fly to Tokyo to see him and back in one day…:( I miss him so much!! I hope he is having a wonderful birthday with his wife and 2 beautiful daughters!

      SONY DSC

Today’s card is a little different from ones I always create for KS Monday. After I saw the this tutorial by Beate Johns, I just had to try the beautiful 3D flowers for myself :):) I don’t have the same die she used but I found out I could cut flowers from my neglected Cricut machine! I used flower 2 (Shadow Blackout) from Georgia cartridge. I followed the tutorial HERE by Kathy Files. She has some great ideas using Cricut machine…and I got a lot of inspirations from her blog and video. I’m sure my hubby will be so happy if I start using the machine more ;) My daughter, Kimberly also loves to make those dimension flowers, too!!

After I cut the flowers with the distress designer paper from Basic Gray, I stamped with 3 Step Letter from the Past and Big & Bold Swashes and inked on the back with brayer. Then I started building the rose. You can easily customize your roses with some stamping and inking :):)

The sentiment from 3 Step Hearts & Roses was simply stamped on the white mat and the mat was dry embossed with the embossing folder.

Lastly, this is the cupcakes my kids made. The cupcakes were made with their grandma the day before and they decorated with marshmallows and sprinkles on Mother’s Day morning. I didn’t help any…they saw one of the women’s magazine. Aren’t they cute or what?

      RI What If? Wednesdays Challenge

      wiwbadge

      Hello and happy Wednesday everyone~

      ri_sm510

I’d like to tell you all about a NEW challenge from Repeat Impressions, called “What If? Wednesdays”!!!

Starting today, What If? Wednesdays is going to be posted over RI blog every other Wednesdays. And for today’s challenge, Wendy (RI owner) has created this wonderful sketch for you to play! The fun part is….you have a chance to win a blog candy when you participate!!

To find out the challenge detail, Please check RI blog “House That Build Stamps”.  The link system is also provided to the bottom of the WIW challenge post for you to enter your name and card. So, why don’t you join us with some stamps & inks (use RI stamps if you have any)? I can’t wait to see what you’ll create with the sketch!!

Here is my take using the sketch…

      SONY DSC

I used 2 different Nestabilities (scallop square and label 3) and created the main layers. I stamped the sentiment from Quartet Complement Series on the white mat and sponged the mat. The birdhouse was stamped and colored with Copic markers. Then I trimmed around the image and adhered above the sentiment. I embellished the card with buttons, pearls and the red ribbon. Instead of the small dots on the border from the sketch, I pleated the ribbon :) The bottom of the white layers (both front and inside) were punched with my new toy – MS border punch :):)

Now, check out the creations using the sketch by other Rock Stars!!

FTTC65 – Card with Gift Set

      SONY DSC

      Hello everyone~

It is time for Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge (FTTC65)!!  This week Silke Ledlow is our challenge host!  Silke is challenging us to a card with gift set!  It is the time of year where Mother's Day, Father's Day, Weddings, Graduations, along with Birthdays and many other reasons to celebrate and give warrant not only a card but a little something extra to go with it!   You can go simple or over the top!  Whichever you decide, we would love to see what you create!

I created this card and gift set to my mother in law for Mother’s Day gift. She is my blog subscriber so it’s not going to be a surprise gift for sure, lol. I hope she will like it :) For the inside, you can insert something flat and small like tea bags. The pockets of the bag was created with white envelopes that were sealed and cut 2 1/2” from each end. For this gift bag, I made 6 pockets (using 3 envelopes) and adhered each pocket. Then I adhered the group of pockets to the inside of front and back piece. The front piece is 4” x 5”.  The back piece is 4” x 7” and scored at 2” from one end for the flap. The Velcro piece was used for the closure.

Both card and gift bag was used images from Let’s Have Tea set and colored with Copic markers. The sentiment of the card is from Spring Bouquet set.

      May-2010-sketch

Hello everyone~ It’s the first Monday of the month….that means it’s time for Kitchen Sink Crew Challenge!! Julie is hosting the challenge #25 (KSCC#25) and she’s created the wonderful sketch for us to play!! Hope you will play along with us :):)

SONY DSC Since the next Sunday is Mother’s Day, I made the card for My MIL to send her mom (my grandmother in law). Grandma Murphy loves lilacs so I hope this card will bring her smile :):)

I used Multi Step Lilacs set and stamped each step. “To Mom” from Whole Family set was stamped with VersaMark and heat embossed with black EP. I’m terrible with heat embossing…so I re-stamped the words with VersaMark and heat embossed with black EP again. I probably couldn’t do that if the stamps were not clear!

The pale purple layer for the main mat was used faux stitching. I used the grosgrain ribbon, buttons tyed with black wax twines to embellishing the card.

These are the steps I did for each image (all inks are Stampin’ Up! unless mentioned):
      (Lilacs) 3rd – eggplant envy (1 x stamp off), 1st – pale plum, 2nd – perfect plum, 4th – eggplant envy

      (Leaves) 1st – kiwi kiss (1 x stamp off), 2nd – kiwi kiss, 3rd – old olive

      (Stems) 2nd – old olive (1 x stamp off), 1st – kiwi kiss
