KS Monday – May 31st, 2010

SONY DSC

Hello and happy Kitchen Sink Monday everyone~

I can’t believe it’s already the last day of May and we are starting June whether we like or not, lol. I decided to create today’s card with using another fruit set…Multi Step Peach.

The peach set is mini set ($8.50) with including Maria’s wonderful color recipe. I absolutely recommend to everyone who wants to try out Kitchen Sink’s step stamps :)

Peach_2-2_editedI stamped the image 3 times in the oval mat and designed with Basic Gray designer paper and coordinated cardstock. Then I embellished with scalloped edge ribbon, pearls & Tsumami Kanzashi flower (made my own) with die cut leaves.

These are the steps I did for each image (all inks are Memento inks):
(Peaches) I did the same steps from Maria’s recipe that linked above)…3rd – rhubarb stalk (1 x stamp off), 2nd – tangelo (1 x stamp off), 1st – dandelion (1 x stamp off), 1st – tangelo (1 x stamp off), 4th – rhubarb stalk (1 x stamp off), repeat 4th, 5th – sweet plum

(Leaves) 3rd – cottage ivy, 2nd – bamboo leaves, 1st – pear tart

FTTC68 – Handmade Flowers

Cherry_Blossoms_1-1_edited

Hello eveyone~

It is time for Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge(FTTC68) !  It is the end of the month so we have us a challenge host!  This month's challenge host is Velta Wesson.  Velta is challenging us to "make our own flowers"!  I know you have seen all of these wonderful dimensional homemade flowers being used everywhere.  Now is your chance to make your very own and sport them on your cards, too!   They look quite amazing, but they really are not that hard to do!  You can use any thing from paper to lace to create your flowers.  However, if you would like to see a few tutorials from SCS on paper roses, rolled flowers, or tissue flowers, just check out the links.  Also, Dawn Burnworth, has also done a tutorial on ribbon flowers here.   Whichever form of flower you choose to create, we would love to have you play along with us!  Remember to link your card with the Link system at the Flourishes blog for you chance to win a $10 store gift certificate.  Also, check out the blog for more ways to win!

My card was created with the beautiful set, Cherry Blossoms and the BG Kioshi designer papers. I cut the scalloped oval shape with big scallop oval Nestabilities from Spellbinders and stamped the sentiment and the small cherry blossoms image. Then it was sponged with the moss green ink and embellished with the brown pearls. I also machine stitched some of the mats.

Cherry_Blossoms_1-2_edited

About my handmade flower…. I hope you like it because I had so much fun to make it :) It’s called Tsumami Kanzashi Flower and Tsumami Kanzashi flowers are made for the traditional Japanese hair ornaments. There are a few Tsumami Kanzashi books in Japan but the shipping costs are just too expensive for me unfortunately :( Luckily I found the book Kanzashi in Bloom by Diane Gilleland with easier and more friendly version of Tsumami Kanzashi flowers so that every day crafters like me can enjoy making for modern projects.

The flower I made for the card was used the leftover cotton fabric and I cut five 2 1/2” x 2 1/2” squares, folded each square with simple origami folding (it’s a quite simple), assembled with sewing thread. After the flower was shaped the way I wanted, I attached the small circle cardstock and Prima leave on the back and the button on the front.

HERE is Kanzashi flower tutorial video by Diane. The folding she shows is not the same one I did for the card but it’s another beautiful flower for you to try.

Atelier Kanawa also shows how she makes Tsumami Kanzashi….Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3 if you are interested. She uses a traditional way and takes a lot of time to create her gorgeous projects…She also sells her beautiful projects in her Etsy store, Atelier Kanawa

There are also some Kanzashi tutorials out there if you like to dig in more….you can just google with “ Kanzashi Tutorials”.

This card is also submitted to Our Creative Corner Challenge (OCCC) – Loretta’s wonderful sketch!

Now, check out what the rest of FOF have created for the challenge!!

For my card, I stamped the SOTW stamp on the watercolor paper and water colored with re-inker and Twinkling H2Os chestnut brown to give more detail. After the paint was completely dried, I paper pieced the vase with the BG designer paper and paper toiled some of the flower & leave pieces. I also water colored the vase with Twinkling H2Os chestnut brown and the background with re-inker.

I couldn’t find the good place to attach the sentiment from NEW Quartet Complements (P8600) on the card front…so I stamped it inside instead :)

Aren’t these couple beautiful? Both of the couple and the sentiment is from Multi Step Wedding Couple set. I don’t want to scare you…but the image was made with SIX steps!! That’s right, I used 6 different stamps to create the image…I don’t deny it was easy but I just needed practice for a few times before creating the card, plus it’s so fun to see the image is becoming more detailed with each step :) I added the dash of colors (like bouquet, hair accessory and cheeks) with Prismacolor Pencils and added glitters.

The inside of the card was used Multi Step Wedding Ring set. I created the money / gift card holder as shown on the photo.

Weekend Quick Card

Watercolor_Trio_1_edited

Hello eveyrone~

It’s been a wonderful weekend so far. My kiddos just finished their school year!!! Both of them did a excellent school year and I’m a super proud Mom :):) Now, we’ve enjoyed being relaxed, lol.  I just bought PSE 8 and have enjoyed playing some Actions, lol. Plus, I got a new craft book, “Kanzashi in Bloom” by Diane Gillerland…I love the flowers she shows in the book…I’m thinking making some of those for embellishments. I will let you know how they turn out when I experiment :)

OK, since my stamping MOJO’s been side-kicked, I decided to create a quick card. This card was used Color Throwdown challenge #93 (CTD93) and Fall to Layout 90 (FTL90) from Clean & Simple Stamping. (I just noticed the new FTL is up now…I guess I’m a little behind :p) I used Berry Sherbet color from PTI to alternate Melon Mambo.

I’m so glad I got this new stamp set from SU! It’s such a beautiful set and very versatile :)

Stamps: Watercolor Trio (SU)
Paper: classic white (Flourishes), baja breeze, pink pirouette (SU)
Ink:  baja breeze, pink pirouette (SU), berry sherbet (PTI)
Accessories: ribbon
Tools: piercing tool

Thank you for stopping by~ Enjoy the rest of your weekend :)

MTSC74

Well, how about a card for a guy?? I hate to admit but I don’t make enough for guys who are in my life… but I know they love receiving a card or two from time to time like us :)

This week’s Our Creative Corner challenge (OCCC) was a perfect timing for me to create a masculine birthday card…I will definitely give this card to my special man for his next birthday!!

act 30

The card is also submitted to Mercy’s Tuesday Sketch challenge 74 (MTSC74) and Curtain Call Color Challenge (ACT30). The pale pink was included to the combo and it was fun to use it as a accent color for the masculine theme, lol! Why not, right?

The motorcycle image from SU! was colored with Copic markers. Not too much to mention as far as about the technique….I punched the 2 corners of the kraft mat with the same border punch I used for the pale pink piece. I killed two birds with one stone, lol.

Stamps: Motorcycle, Upsy Daisy (SU)

TSG55 & CC271

SONY DSC

Hello everyone~

I had so fun with creating this card above. It was created for There She Goes challenge 55 (TSG55) – Make an Impression….create a card using line art as your background. I also combined SCS Color Combination challenge 271 (CC271).

I used She’s A Lady set (the lady), Daily Grind set (the cafe image & sentiment) and Domestic Goddess set (the word bubble). I love some of TSG sets works mixing & matching very well and those are the ones I can play together over and over :):)
The lady image was colored with Copic markers. I used the designer paper from Basic Gray to close to the color combo and cut out the window with Label 1 Nestabitilies. The ribbon & button were simply attached to finish the card.

Here is the inside of the card.

Happy Wednesday, everyone~

ri_sm1910

Are you ready for another sketch challenge from Repeat Impressions? Wendy has designed another wonderful sketch for us. I hope you will join the challenge with us :) Over all you will have a chance to win $25 gift certificate to shop at Repeat Impression store!! You don’t have to use RI stamps but we’d love to see the creation with using them if you have any ;)

The information & the submissions for this challenge are over RI blog, House that Builds Stamps until Tuesday, June 1st.

Here is my take on the sketch.

SONY DSC

I tilted stamped mats slightly. I was in love with the cards some of the Rock Stars used the fun bunny image (Jump for Joy, 2610-J) for the last sketch challenge and I just had to use it this time :) After I stamped the bunny, I masked it and stamped Heart Flower, 8413-C. The all images were colored with Copic markers. I used the sentiment from NEW Quartet Complements Series.

Now, check out the creations using the sketch by other Rock Stars!!

FTTC67 – Chipboard!!

SONY DSC

It is time for Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge(FTTC67)!  This week Betty Wright is our challenge host!  Betty is challenging us to use "chipboard”.  You can use some already decorated chipboard or find some "bare" chipboard and dress it up!  You can make tags, embellishments, or stamp your focal image directly to the stuff!  Whether you are painting it up, cutting it out, or using some already  pre-cut and decorated chipboard, we would love to see what you create using chipboard!

For the challenge, I used alphabet chipboard I purchased for a long time ago. The letter “r” is not stand for Rated “R”, just letting you know, lol!! It’s stand for Roses or Romance ;) Since the romance was my theme, I went for shabby chic vintage (again). The chipboard letter was covered with BG Nook & Pantry dp. Then I stamped the flourish images from Ornamental Elements with white pigment ink and distressed the edge with the same ink. I stamped the rose images from A Year in Flowers 2 on the Labels 11 mat using Memento rich cocoa. The lace dp from BG Nook & Pantry was used for the background and I stamped the image from Tea Rose Background  using Memento desert sand although it’s barely seen :p To complete the card, I embellished with tea roses, pearls, satin ribbon and scalloped ribbon.

I also decorated the inside with A Year in Flowers 2 and colored with Copic markers.
